Is it a coincidence that Congerton turns up and suddenly these youngsters that have been held in such high regard through every tier of their development can't cut it, are released and now talking to bigger clubs? Something is rotten in the state of Denmark to me.
Man U are good for getting their youth players promoted to the 1st team, so he will get a chance, probably won't be 20 games a season but a few cup matches, sub appearances if they are already confortable. (If he is good enough)
There definitely isn't a shortage of kids that want to be footballers, are we developing them poorly?
Then obviously somebody above them are making the decisions. What's the point in even having an academy?
True, but how many young players we've released in the past have gone to talk to bigger clubs? Something ain't right imo.
Well I'll tell you tis Brian. Mt youngun's 12yo now & if a Sunderland scout or a Hartlepool scout were after him there's no way I'd let him go to Sunderland. Infact, I'd rather have him at Boro who have a great history of bringing the kids through.
Can't argue with that, even less so with these latest bizarre decisions. Some of these lads are ready for the first pro contract, and should be loaned out to gain first team experience to see if we can make some money on them at least. Even if it's clear they won't make it to a premier league standard there's no point spending thousands on these kids only let them walk to a team for free(the tribunal will award us next to nothing), when we can contract them, send them to that same team on loan for a season and gain a small transfer fee a year later. I just don't see where the costs are being covered, it should be a self sustainable department and not swallowing money from elsewhere. We should be producing professionals of all standards imo
And yet we're giving talent away? No ****ing wonder we're in the state we're in. It's things like this that **** me off with the club I love.
