I have a friend who is asking £270 for a £45 FA Cup Final Ticket. Which by the way I don't agree with ( having already sold a spare ticket for face value). His reasoning is the 17 hours he had to queue for it. He also told me about a site called tickets4football.com which has some very inflated prices for both the City and Arsenal ends. As far as I'm aware is this not illegal.
My view is possibly odd, but I feel that finding the money and paying for the day out is part of the pleasure. Some how, being given it would reduce the experience of what for me is an absolutely massive day out. One of the biggest in my life. By twist of fate, I ended up with 'extra' tickets. I could have sold them above face value and paid for my weekend away. Instead I offered them at face value to City fans that (at the time) could have missed out. The pleasure I know they'll get out of the tickets, and being stood near people of my choosing, has a far greater value than any extra money could ever bring.
Tell your friend he is not a fan but a money making scumbag. Then tell your friend he is no longer your friend.
I totally agree with you about City fans getting the tickets and not missing out, hence the reason I sold mine at face value. But by the same token he has very little money and if it can pay for his weekend is it such a bad thing. It's not something I would do but everybody's circumstances are different
It is illegal and some of those who are buying black market tickets will be in for a shock when they walk up to the turnstiles at Wembley next week. They will be turned away. The FA and the club are onto this. Be warned.
That is a big problem. How many of these sites selling expensive tickets will actually be authentic or post tickets at all?
I feel duty bound to warn you that the Urban Idiom Grammar Police might hold you in contempt for using that reprehensible phrase.
It's a joke, I sold my spares for face value only and think anyone doing different is a twat. Unfortunately though, it is just a fact of modern life, people are always willing to pay over the odds for things and people are always looking to make a quick buck.
While I don't agree with selling tickets above face value IF they are genuine tickets how on earth would they stop people using them? It's perfectly acceptable to give a ticket to a friend, so how can the FA know whether or not any financial transaction has taken place? Surely they can't? It sounds a bit like the BBC's fake detector vans.
People haver different standards. I don't think any of the Hull City supporters / posters on here would sell a ticket to a fellow genuine Hull City supporter above face value..
I agree but you'd be surprised how many ticket selling posts there are on Craigslist London offering tickets at massively more than face value ... presumably aimed at rich desperate Arsenal fans ... With riders like 'tickets are currently in Hull but can meet halfway' etc.
If it is genuine and your friend/ex friend is going to the Everton game tomorrow would he be willing to sell it in person? My sister lives in London, has been to half the home games this year and several away including the first Brighton FA cup game but unfortunately missed the semi-final as she was on holiday in the States. I dont agree with paying more than face value for a ticket and quite frankly dont agree with your friends reasoning for selling it at more than face v alue as he was likely quening for his own ticket anyway. Anyway if he wants to do the decent thing and sell to a genuine fan, she will be at the game tomorrow, will he?
........ That's because your a good un DMD when it comes to the crunch. And your spot on with that post OLM has also helped a number of Hull City supporters with tickets also and you can bet he never made 1p
I am aware of Club Wembley members who've sold tickets on eBay/Gumtree etc and if Club Wembley have seen them they've suspended access for the event and the tickets have been worthless. Club Wembley members are allowed to buy tickets for people, but they're not allowed to advertise tickets for sale anywhere.
When the semi was first advertised, I was away, I thought I'd miss out so was checking these sites & they were offering tickets for £400+, my Mrs said to me that it was a once in a lifetime & I should go for it, I told her I'd rather watch on TV if I couldn't get a ticket from the club itself, plus I don't know how dodgy these sites are. However I queued up & got a ticket, then so did everyone who wanted one, so that was good, then came the final, again if I couldn't get a ticket then yes I'd be a bit down, but I certainly wouldn't pay over the odds. Got my ticket anyway, so I'm happy & if someone offered me more for it when I got to Wembley, I'm talking over the odds more, something that would pay for my weekend & make me a profit, I still wouldn't sell it. I've been to gigs before where the touts are outside offering more money than what's been paid, I just don't see the point.
