Hi. My first post. As a supporter of a certain age, I remember how Dave Waston was transformed at Sunderland from centre-forward to become an outstanding England centre-half. Anybody think Jozy should could potentially be used in this position. Certainly has the physical presence for the job.
Not specifically watched him at corners, but just wondering if somewhere inside him is a good player who just needs to find his right position on the field. Watson was a decent CF but not prolific when it came to goals. Took to CH instantly and never looked back.
Dion dublin went the other way didnt he, i dunno mate, i like jozy for lots of his traits, just doesnt look a goalscorer, hope he gets a goal tomorrow and then has a blinding world cup. I bet he's a nightmare to defend against
Welcome mate. Can't say that ever occurred to me. One for the coaches really. WMS He does get back a bit to help out. I can recall hi clearing off the line and winning headers in defence.
Dozy is not good enough in the air to be a CB and he is too slow to be a full back and has little close control for a midfielder, we also have had a season of him trying to be a striker..that has not gone well. If he has a good WC then we may be able to flog him (and throw in Graham as a make weight) for what he cost us...then we can go for another striker. Not sure if Scocco is going to fit in? He has obviously struggled to make an impact this season..lets see if he gets a run tomorrow and then has a good pre-season etc he may shine next season. Fletcher will return at some point also but he needs to be fit and raring to go.
Welcome fella, I disagree, Jozy can't head, has no leap, slow over 5 yards and just isn't tall enough to play CB for me. Kenny Jones he is not. He doesn't provide anything but a roadblock to get round while defending corners and is never given a dangerous opponent on corners. He's a ball into feet player, anywhere else he just isn't good enough.
The difference being that Dave Watson was proving himself to be pretty good in front of goal before Stokoe moved him to centre half...Watson was a cracking header of the ball whether at the back or up front... However, I still believe that Altidore has the ability to be a decent striker, but he does have some massive confidence hurdles to overcome if he is ever going to fulfil his potential...
Have to wonder what the Arsenal "goal" would have done for his confidence. I reckon it would have had a big effect on him, given their profile.
I don't see jozy as a centre half.i feel he still has the potential to come good as a striker.lets see what the close season and the World Cup brings
