Ah, what a difference a year makes. Feels like yesterday that Super Kev was crowd surfing his way from the pitch to the dressing room. And now this, a season which has ended in failure for whatever reasons. A straight return to the Championship (our beloved division) and a kick straight back to the drawing board. This Sunday's game shouldn't be to bad. If we're going to go out we may as well attempt to go out on a high and there is probably not a better time to play the Londoners. Money loaded Chelsea's season that seemed so solid a couple of weeks back has crumbled around them and their bws, dumped out of Europe by an impressive Athletico side and diverted from the domestic title by stubborn performances from Sunderland and Norwich. John Terry's tearful eyes are already set on his holiday, or his next shag... Either that or they'll fuel all their pissed off rage into crushing us and our porous defense..... As with any final day of the Prediction League, there is tonnes to be sorted and the permutations will be up in the next couple of posts As per usual I would like to thank you all for predicting, in what has been a long and hard season I was going to attempt a World Cup prediction competition but since I'm away for 3 weeks of it I'm afraid I'd be pretty useless But if anyone/groups is interested, PM me, as I can help with ideas, organisation and spreadsheets. Final table and Playoff thread up soon. So here's to next year and the Championship! Good Luck
Championship Title BluefromBridgend has the First Division Title wrapped up, barring the highest possible score from Blue Sheep (7 points behind) which is highly unrealistic as it would require City winning as well as scoring three goals. Sheep leads Masky by 2 points and needs to better the caped crusader and Tonto to confirm the Runner Up spot. All three of the above will gain a bonus point for predicting every game. The race for the final Top Four place was blown wide open by Jonah Bluebird CS against Stoke and he now only trails last yearâs runner up, ccfcremotesupport, by a single point. Last yearâs Second Tier Champion needs to outscore Remote by at least two points. Remote has one more CS than Jonah if they are level. John Hughes, ccfcrtOp and Taffthefish are relegated to the 2nd Division after a hearty recovery from isawronnymoorescore. 2nd Division Title Blueturk the Cat has confirmed his place in the First Division and Welshman is favourite to join him, providing Ninian Opinionâs prediction isnât heaven sent to make up the 4 point swing. Ninian needs at least the CS from Sundayâs game as well as scorer in addition to hoping that Welshman himself gains no points. As usual it is far from certain to who will go up as champion. Only a point separates Blueturk and Welshman so if Blueturk betters Welshmanâs score the 2nd Tier title is his. In the case of a tiebreak, Welshman has more CSâs. The Playoffs The playoffs places are far from settled â 3 points separate the 6 players in contention. Ninian Opinion and Sayer77 have a slight advantage as they will gain the bonus point for a full house of predictions. Ninian Opinion looks pretty safe judging by the number of bodies between himself and 6th as well as a two point clearance (with BP). He will need points to be sure of 3rd place though. There is more threat to Bluescull and Sayer77 (with BP) who only have a single point gap and if anyone gets a big score below them, they could be dropping towards 7th. The newest arrival to the playoffs, Mustyfrog, only took the final position last week making good advantage of GhostofNinianâs inconsistency (1 prediction in 6) but Ghost could still make the playoff as he is still joint 6th with a late comeback. The Party Crasher is Hampshire Blue who is only 1 point of the chase and could really set the cat amongst the pigeons by putting in a big score. Outscoring Musty by 1 point could get one of the spots. The Wooden Spoon UniBrumBluebird is awarded the Wooden Spoon for a disastrous season. Stranded on a single point for most of this season, UniBrum will hope to pick up more points in the familiar surroundings of the Championship. However, in three seasons of predicting Uni is still yet to break out of the bottom half of the bottom tier since his debut season.
Ok final prediction for this disastrous season, Cardiff City 3 Chelsea 4, Campbell and Whitts x 2 for us. Thanks for running this Sheep i for one really appreciate your efforts as i am sure so does everyone.
Hey Sheepy...first of all many thanks for running the league and all the work that goes with it. As for the final game before we head back to the championship I'm going for a boring 0-0. Now when are next season's fixtures out?
Got to go ccfc 2 cfc 1 with our friends Caulker and Campbell getting on the score sheet. And very grateful thanks to you, Sheep, for this work.
It will take the same format as last season Sayer, as described here - http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/210101-Prediction-League-Championship-Playoffs maybe with some changes about the Red Card prediction. The fixtures will be different as the Premier League season has thrown us out a bit, so it will be three legs instead of four. Both final legs of the Championship playoff semi - finals The FA Cup final Championship Playoff Final for the BPPL Playoff final.
OK sad as it is I'm going CCFC 3 CFC 5 Mutch, Campbell and Whittingham please Mr Sheep. Thanks for all your efforts this season.
Miserable failure this year - that's both City and me in this prediction league. Made the playoffs the last two seasons, but could never get over the line - R2D2 and that Exile bloke stuffed me on both occasions. This year I've made a right pig's arse of it expecting City to win more than we lost. I think just like City again, we're both better suited to the Championship, so it's auto promotion for us both next season.......... Last game then, and I'm not going to change the habits of a lifetime. City 3 - 1 Chelsea, with midfielders Whitts, Kimbo and Mutch getting the goals. Sheepy - you deserve a medel for running this prediction league, and if you've got £11M, you can have him........
Going 3-0 to Chelski please. Just like to say thanks for all your hard work Mr Sheep during what has been a disaster of a season. Lets hope next season is better!!embarrassed.gif
2-4 with calker and FC with our goals Just like to echo the other comments thanks for sorting this out Part of my pre match ritual!!! See you all next season
Well my 5 a side team does need some backbone For the final time this season then. I expect us to put up a fight but lose so 2-1 to Chelsea with Campbell getting the goal. Cheers guys
A BIG thank you to Sheep for organizing & keeping us all up to date. Regretfully I still can't see us scoring so US 0 Them 2.
