I love a bit of quality television and thanks to Murdoch/money/plenty other factors we're blessed with movie-quality tv productions. But what's your favourite(s) and why?

Me, I found the recent HBO/Sky Atlantic series True Detective to be pretty much the pinnacle of story telling and acting. Matthew McConnaughy is incredible, as is Woody Harrelson, and it's an epic, dark cop fiction that just blows anything similar out of the water.

Do enjoy Game of Thrones, but it lives up to the books and nothing more. Tyrion is a revelation, staging is fab, but it's the books that carry it rather than the production.

Also like Walking Dead, Suits, Rake and Brooklyn Nine Nine. But True Detective is the fcking nuts. How about you, what should we be watching??

note - anti-Pardew comments, whilst generally always welcome, are frowned upon.

I don't really watch much TV, but the first three seasons of Chuck were great.

    Fringe is also entertaining.

Not a great lover of TV myself, only watch it when there's sport on.

Has to be The Sopranos for me. Loved Tony's story from start to finish.

Tell me you're joking, mate. Our version was way superior, unless you're a Yank in disguise.

I watched True Detective and it was exceptional TV, this is the cream of American TV, big budget and A class stars at the top of their careers, UK tv output never hits these highs, there are some very good bits of UK tv but the vast emptiness of the majority of its production puts me off. I watch a lot of sport, maybe 5% of quality tv but spend most down time playing guitar or reading, a lot of my time recently has been spent caring for my dad who also loved his sport and sadly died 2 weeks ago, now I have more time on my hands but won't be filling it with TV, will be able to get out for a bit of social interaction now though that I have missed since he became so ill.

    I feel shameful.
I've missed off the two greatest drama's ever to be screened in the UK.

    Boys From The Blackstuff
    Our Friends In The North

    Powerhouse acting and masterpiece scripts.
    Both launched many a career...
