I'll kick off with this brilliant article http://www1.skysports.com/football/...-managerial-genius-whatever-happens-on-sunday He's done us, along with players, proud this season Very much looking forward to our future under his guidance
Agreed. Very impressed with Brendan. He learnt from his first season and improved us and I have great expectancy that he will do the same again for next season.
I think Brendan Rodgers deserves great credit for how Liverpool have performed this season. At the start of the season how many people honestly thought Liverpool would go into the last game of the season with a chance of winning the title ?
If we were offered 4th position at the start of the season , we should have taken it without question. Well done Brendan Rodgers.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers talking to a news conference ahead of his side's season finale at home to Newcastle. Liverpool need to win and rely on Manchester City losing at home to West Ham to win the title. He said: "I'd like to congratulate my players. They've put Liverpool back on world map. This is only the beginning. I expect us to get even better next season. I've watched Palace match three times & I'm still in shock." The man oozes class to be honest.
The man deserves the plaudits he is now getting. For me his greatest strength is that he learns from his mistakes. Let us hope that he continues that way next season.
Im not posting on this thread until I see something from MFG or Wishi. Well, not again after this one...
This guy couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag! A bit suspicious at first but he has that mix of the continental style with some of the British wit and persona to survive in the prem as well. Glad he is on board and excited to see how he fares in the next challenge that is CL.
Really have got to hand it to him. Like many, I wasn't sure at first and 'This s Liverpool' didn't help. However, the proof of the pudding has most assuredly been in the eating, and what a very tasty pud it has been too. All underlined by my 'Get Well Soon' card from the man himself. carry on, Mr Rodgers, Manager of the Year.
He has done well and improved on last season. If we have the same improvement next season we will win everything. But I would be happy with the prem or CL.
Still a bit naïve at times, but has turned out to be one of most important signings we've made recently. Brought a new flamboyant style with exciting football while promoting the youth from within and exceeding everyone's expectations. Still reckon the bigger tests are yet to come - how he manages us in Europe and with the added competition, as well as next season us being amongst the favourites for the top 4 rather than underdogs. Hopefully can get him tied to a 5 year deal and let him take the club back to where we all want to be
Excellent manager. My only reservation as an outsider is his enthusiasm for his philosophy could be his undoing. I hope it is just lip service when he says he will never alter his philopsophy, because altering his tactics and approach to suit the opposition is what seperates the excellent managers from the elite managers. Here is hoping he learns from his mistakes this season (and let's be fair, they are outweighed a hundred times over by the good hes done this season) and adapts to each match and each opponent, particularly on the big european occasion. When this happens, IMO he will be an elite level manager.
i don't think he ever will change his philosophy to be honest, and in a way i hope he doesn't, as yeah it can be frustrating at times but when it works its great to watch, he learns quickly which is good to see and knows where he went wrong. few tweaks here and there and better organisation i think he will be looking for nothing else. lot to improve on, esp defence, but exciting times ahead at last
Didn't this season prove that there are times when you have to play ugly? Let's be honest here - Liverpool have been absolutely incredible this season, but if they play the same way they have been playing this season in matches against Real Madrid, they run the risk of taking an absolute tonking. True, they could also hand a tonking back but the risk increases as the quality of opposition does, and in big games against big names there are times when you have to play in a different way. He hasnt really had the chance yet, here is hoping that he proves me wrong - I just worry that he would carry the same philosophy and approach into games where his chances of winning would be far higher if he accepted that it was necessary to take a step back. I think it is admirable that he sticks to his attacking guns, and a great credit to how well Liverpool have played that they have been sweeping opposition away all season, but I fear that the forwards may not be as prolific in seasons to come and there has to be a plan B for when the backs hit the wall. Again, not to take way from a top season and an excellent manager - just hasnt had the chance to prove he has the tactical awareness and self control if you like, to modify his approach in games where it is necessary.
You do realise we beat Everton 4-0 and Arsenal 5-0 by accepting they are better on the ball? We defended and beat them playing counter-attacking football.
