http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ff-considered-Norwich-West-Brom-West-Ham.html Former Cardiff manager Malky Mackay has dropped his legal claim against the club after reaching a settlement on his sacking. Mackay was dismissed in December after a difference of opinion with owner Vincent Tan about the direction of the club. Sportsmail understands Mackay hasn't received any compensation and paid own legal fees, in addition to issuing apology. Tan has since criticised Mackayâs efforts in preparing the side for the Premier League, but the Scot issued a conciliatory statement through lawyers today in which he apologised 'without reservation' to the Malaysian businessman. Mackayâs statement, released through Slater & Gordon Lawyers, reads: 'Today I have reached a settlement agreement dropping all claims I have made against Cardiff City Football Club. I did not want to be in litigation and believe that it is in the best interests of all parties to have a clean break and move on. Mackay is understood to be one of the names being considered by Norwich, West Ham and West Bromwich Albion should they change managers soon. The statement continued: 'I have enjoyed my time at Cardiff City and I am most grateful to the board of Cardiff City and Vincent Tan for giving me the opportunity. The club's owner Mr Vincent Tan invested heavily in the club and supported our decisions in our push for promotion to the Premier League. Without him this would not have been possible. 'My thanks to all those at the club and the fans who have supported me during my time in Wales. If I have caused any offence to anyone during this time, especially to Vincent Tan, then I apologise without reservation. 'I wish everyone associated with Cardiff City FC all the best for the future and thank them for their support. 'I will not be commenting further on this matter.' That really is humiliating. The fans have really had it **** havent they?
I saw he'd reached a settlement but assumed he'd been paid off a la Barmby. This is a bit weird if he's dropped it all, paid his own legal fees and even apologised. Humiliating as you say, so what's made him drop it?
It's a bit too crawly for my liking, either Tan has given him stupid amount of money or it would drag on too long & he would miss the chance of a next job if it came up. I know though if I was a fan I'd be annoyed by the brown nosing apology in the way it was written.
"after reaching a settlement on his sacking." Hasn't dropped it, only it has been settled out of court.
Yeah but according to the article they reckon he hasn't been paid anything and paid his own legal fees.
That statement has been written by Tan's legal team and Mackay has had to put his name to it. Humiliating climb down.
From the Cardiff board. Relegated: Cardiff owner Vincent Tan Mike Calvin By Mike Calvin Last updated: 09 May 2014, 09:38 BST Print this story Farewell, then, Norwich City, Cardiff City and Fulham. Truth be told, there will be no national outpouring of grief when the Premier League cortege passes on Sunday. The doomed trio fit the modern stereotype of small clubs who won’t be missed. Technically, Norwich are not yet relegated, yet there is more chance of Delia Smith being reduced to flipping burgers at the local drive-through than their engineering the 17-goal swing required to send West Bromwich Albion down in their place. How do you get relegated? It is simple. Follow these five rules, and failure is guaranteed. When In Doubt, Panic Norwich sacked Chris Hughton with five games to go. Fulham have had three managers this season, and no one quite worked out what Ray Wilkins and Alan Curbishley were doing. Cardiff sacked Malky Mackay and mounted a personalised campaign against him, and his principal support staff. WBA needlessly sacked Steve Clarke and survived only because of the incompetence of others. Spot the pattern? Turn the Club Into a Vanity Project I suspect Vincent Tan secretly likes the inevitable comparisons with a Bond villain. Such a shame he is closer in spirit to Mr Bean. Tan’s vanity and foolishness have come to define Cardiff’s disastrous season in the Premier League. Relying on yes men with no direct football knowledge is a no-no. Over at Fulham, new owner Shahid Khan failed to bridge the cultural chasm between the PL and NFL. Turn the Transfer Market into a Tombola Stall Bad recruitment is a manager’s quickest way to his P45. Ricky Van Wolfswinkel and Johan Elmander could play non-stop against a team of dustbins until Christmas without troubling the scorers. Cardiff compounded Mackay’s initial mistakes in the summer market by allowing the inexperienced Ole Gunnar Solksjaer a supermarket sweep in January. Fulham’s signings lacked a coherent strategy, and resulted in an ageing, unbalanced squad. Employ an Excitable Chief Executive There is nothing like a sense of perspective. David McNally, Norwich’s CEO, distinguished himself by suggesting relegation was “worse than death.” His words were ludicrous, and his actions, in consistently undermining Hughton, compromised the club’s reputation as one of the most sane and stable in the English game. In any other industry he, too, would be looking for another job. Shut Up and Pay Up No meltdown is complete without alienating those who pay up, and are expected to shut up. Cardiff supporters continue defiantly to wear blue instead of red, and fair play to Norwich fans who have retaliated by voting in droves for third choice goalkeeper Carlo Nash as player of the year. Generally, badly-run clubs ignore such resistance, and fail to value tradition, common sense and loyalty. They get what they deserve.
The Cardiff board wrote the statement & Mackay agreed to it for a more than acceptable payoff. They both deserve each other.
Sportsmail understands Mackay hasn't received any compensation and paid own legal fees, That doesn't mean anything. I can't believe he would drop it and then make an apology without a financial reason to.
Not knowing the facts and this is pure speculation, what if the alternative was a criminal trial and a possible conviction?
I think this highlights how important saving face is to Far East and Middle East people, and why Tan has insisted on Mackay having to grovel.
Can't believe anyone is scoffing at the idea that he's been paid off with a massive amount. Good luck to the feller. I know who I'd rather believe.
Tan's a looooooooon! Gets an apology from Mackay then lays into him. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...lky-mackay-for-relegation-from-premier-league
