Yep, Sociologists and authors have created checklists and other tools to identify mobbing behaviour and it COULD BE what happened laudrup. Checklist eg By standard criteria of job performance, the target is at least average, probably above average. 1 Rumours and gossip circulate about the target’s misdeeds: “Did you hear what she did last week?” 2 The target is not invited to meetings or voted onto committees, is excluded or excludes self. 3 Collective focus on a critical incident that “shows what kind of man he really is”. 4 Shared conviction that the target needs some kind of formal punishment, “to be taught a lesson”. 5 Unusual timing of the decision to punish, e. g., apart from the annual performance review. 6 Emotion-laden, defamatory rhetoric about the target in oral and written communications. 7 Formal expressions of collective negative sentiment toward the target, e. g. a vote of censure, signatures on a petition, meeting to discuss what to do about the target. 8 High value on secrecy, confidentiality, and collegial solidarity among the mobbers. 9 Loss of diversity of argument, so that it becomes dangerous to “speak up for” or defend the target. 10 The adding up of the target’s real or imagined venial sins to make a mortal sin that cries for action. 11 The target is seen as personally abhorrent, with no redeeming qualities; stigmatizing, exclusionary labels are applied. 12 Disregard of established procedures, as mobbers take matters into their own hands. 13 Resistance to independent, outside review of sanctions imposed on the target. 14 Outraged response to any appeals for outside help the target may make. Not saying this is what happened, but looks plausible. I'm currently studying mobbing in sports for my Sociology degree and when I researched this I thought of laudrup v Swansea.
Considering Fabianski wants to leave Arsenal because of lack of first team football I highly doubt he is coming here to replace Tremmel. I can only guess that Vorm must want out for us to be targetting a keeper who is looking for first team football.
Have we? I'm thinking not. The reasons are pending legal action and/or proposed settlement , the only type of official news was from huw stating That he felt laudrup was eroding our identity, it was ironic then to see monk try and play a narrow game against Southampton ,a formation used with success overall by him, laudrup. Alas we have not had the truth from both sides yet,not that it matters any more
Just about sums it up,Swan. Laudrup was scapegoated,in my humble opinion. Hey,good luck with Sociology degree. I love Sociology, and Haralambas' "Themes and Perspectives", is one of my favourite books.
Having left this thread alone for a few days, I've come back to have a read. I won't respond in particular to anyone because I don't really want to enter this debate again. However, I'll make one passing comment. It was mentioned that Laudrup was quite possibly the victim of 'mobbing'. Unfortunately, from reading this article, I fear that Monk will definitely be a victim of mobbing from our fans, and as things stand, unless he finishes in the top 10 I can't see him winning over the majority of our supporters. If we as a club go down the route of taking to forums to rip apart new managers before they've even had a chance, we're in trouble, It will begin to filter onto the stands and Monk's successors will face the same treatment. A slippery slope and the early signs of a club falling into instability and disarray. I know we aren't all happy with Monk, some more so than others, but give him a chance to make squad additions and forge his team through a pre-season before true judgement. You all want to judge him on his results this season, but this is not his team, this is Laudrup's team. Let's wait until we've at least seen 10 games of Monk's squad. Pre-season is all about fitness, team bonding and match sharpness - 3 things that we complained Laudrup's team didn't have. Let's wait and see if Monk gets the balance any better. It's going to be a long, long summer on here with you all moaning about Monk at every opportunity.
I think everyone on here wants GM to do well, There is not one person who wants him to fail. But are we as a forum supposed to sit here in silence and not say anything if we disagree with something or are we entitled to air our opinions. .
"It's going to be a long, long summer on here with you all moaning about Monk at every opportunity". So,you can see into the future then? How about a few share tips? What will be the best buys in the "summer"? This a forum for debate, and Monk will be discussed,as will Laudrup, even though he has gone. Those who now think that Monk walks on water, well, until someone pulls the plug and it drains out that is,will need to man up and get used to it. The jury is out on Monk as regards his management capabilities. I,and many others, are yet to be convinced. Will we support him, yes,of course.
I don't think anyone can really judge monk until after he has built his squad. Also I don't think people are out to get monk, they are just concerned about his lack of experience and rightly so. I'd hope for a top 12 finish but would be happy at surviving.
Also the reason why the laudrup debate won't end is because there hasn't been a statement from either sides about what actually went on. So until then everything, even my theory is pure speculation.
More examples of people thinking that because I'm not jumping on your bandwagon, I must absolutely adore Monk. I don't. I'm not 100% happy with his appointment. But unlike most of you, it seems, I'm willing to actually let him build and prepare a squad and play some matches before criticising. Everyone is entitled to air their opinions, but I'm already seeing posts on this thread of people unhappy with Monk over a rumour that we're looking at Fabianski. I'll be happy to air my disapproval of any signing that I don't agree with this summer after the signing has been made, Fabianski being a signing that wouldn't thrill me, but to use rumours to add negative slants to Monk at this stage is absolutely ridiculous. That's what I mean about it being a long summer. A summer of people slandering Monk at every possible opportunity, true or not. How about we wait and see what he actually does before slandering?
But surely rumours are talking points or shall we not bother commenting on anything unless it is 100% fact. There were last season and the season before and the one before that, lots of rumours put on here and guess what people made comment on them some positive some not.
This thread reads like a script for a comedy show?...................... I reckon the leading character should be Mony Fisto, for his above line, truly top draw! Anyway jokes aside, this is Monks moment and how long it will last is anyone's guess, but he has come out in the press and said he will win over the doubters, which clearly there are a significant number, there are a lot of Jacks with reservations on this one, and justifiably so in my view, only time will tell if Huw Jenkins will come up once again smelling of roses, after falling into the dung heap!................
Okay, I'll leave you to it. But I personally think it is possible to comment positively and negatively on rumours without slandering the manager. I'll be commenting positively and negatively on the rumours this summer just like you will, but I won't be using them as an attack on anyone associated with SCFC until a rumour is confirmed as true.
Just a bit of tongue-in-cheek from me. And obviously "a thousand" was a slight exaggeration Lack of an official statement and the truth of what's happened is why I find all the "debating" pointless. Or should I say the excessive debating, a little's normal after all. Absolutely!
Well if you dont know by now why he was sacked you are either ignoring the facts or you are stupid. Are you seriously telling me that you have not seen countless comments from the players in the media about the state of the club under him by now.....Jinx is the chairman and he did not like the way the club had gone down hill and he sacked the guy..end of....you dont get sacked if you are doing a good job do you.....**** sake get real...
Come on, Dai, many other people have commented about how much you go on about him. As for "gutted", didn't my post say how well he did for us?
