If correct ....'he has already resigned himself to finding a new club this summer'. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...aving-Tigers/story-21075869-detail/story.html
Disappointing, thought he actually looked decent against United, and could find some games coming his way in the Europa Campaign.
Great servant in the few years he's been here but I think we now need something better & younger. Koren was our JJ for the Championship. He's a great player but I think we have to say a big Thank You & good luck for the future. The only way I could see him staying would be in a coaching capacity, but I don't see that happening!
Was lucky enough to be there for his debut against Milwall, just about the only City player I can say that for (others being Long and Jela), so he has a special place in my heart.
Thanks RoKo for all the great moments you have given us. I hope you find a good Championship club that will allow you to finish your career in style, and I hope you get a great send off on Saturday and get some playing time at Wembley. Good luck mate!!
I think it probably has reached that stage where he just can't be as effective for us as he used to be. Age has played a big part in that, as well as the higher quality we're playing against and the competition within the squad. He was our stand out player for a couple of years I think, and was our bit of quality during those transitional post-Premiership years when we found it particularly tough. I think he's great, said it before that a couple of his screamers (Leicester & Watford in particular for me) caused an enormous explosion of joy which I won't forget. He's been class, but everything moves on doesn't it. I hope he finds a good club at a good level to see out the end of his playing days.
I think he's worth trying to keep. He's a great sub for 15-20 mins if we need to change a game or steady the ship. I also think his European experience would be invaluable. He's played all over Europe with Slovenia and his know how could be a huge boost to his team mates. Then again if he wants week in week out football he won't get that here. I'd be very sad to see him leave. He won us a lot of games and is a really decent bloke.
I would like him to stay, he has experience which we need and I've always thought he was a good player, even if he older now, plus I'm ever so grateful for him scoring that winner against Watford in October 2011, which was my last regular Hull City game before I moved abroad
Has been a great player, and you can tell his legs were starting to go. I'd have liked him to stay, but if we had the chance to replace him with someone younger and more effective, then I guess it's best he moves on. I'll miss his bottom corner belters from range!
He needs to go now, for his and our sake. He's been a huge asset club but we don't have a spot for him anyhow. I didn't realise he was even on against Man U until he took a free kick. If he wants to carry on for another year or so, and why not, he needs to drop down to the Championship. I hope he gets a 100% standing ovation on the weekend,
He was completely ineffective against Man Utd on Tuesday, due in no part i'm sure to lack of match practice. Been a great player for City but as the article says his time is now up. All the best Roko.
He barely saw any of the ball in the first half against Man United, as we spent most of it in our own half and he was playing behind long. When we switched things at half time he came into the game far more and I thought he played off Fryatt really well. His best years are obviously behind him and he's not a starter, but I think he's really useful to have on the bench and I'll be disappointed to see him go. According to that we haven't given Harper another year either, which might turn out to be a good thing.
It's difficult, isn't it. I can definitely see the reasoning for him leaving, although I can also understand the thinking behind keeping him in a squad role; although I think the argument about his European experience is spurious. What swings it for me is who replaces him, as any change is pointless unless it improves the quality or maintains the quality and substantially reduces the wage bill; the latter of which is very unlikely.
His problem has always been coping with being closed down and getting no time on the ball. He can't react quick enough. If as they say, European teams don't close you down as much he might be more useful in European games and might have one or two screamers left in him. I wouldn't fancy him at PL or Championship level though.
Koren needs regular football and we can no longer offer him that. Great servant of the club, and I can see him doing a good job for a decent championship team next season - maybe Forest, Reading, Blackburn or Middlesbrough? Time for both player and club to move on - midfield being one of the areas where we need more strength in depth for next term.
We really need younger home grown talent in the squad. I do like Koren, but he is not the player he once was and we have to improve the squad. Towards the end of the season it has become obvious that we lack the strength in the squad. We are at the moment still a team formed for the Championship, that has had a few players brought in the strengthen it. Don't get me wrong, stepping up to the PL in the way we did, meant that we would always have the same problem, it is the same for nearly all promoted clubs. We had died off towards the end of the season when other more established sides have not. Here's my list of players who I would not complain if they went. Harper Jakupovic Bruce Faye Brady Figueroa Koren Boyd Quinn Aluko Meyler Players in bold are likely to stay, but I would not be upset if they left. Brady is included only because I think his injury is significant. Boyd is absolutely great as an impact sub, but is not consistent enough for me. Aluko is gone already (I believe). Meyler does a great job, but I think there are better players out there. Quinn needs starts and therefore could go. Figueroa has a problem in his head, could be fantastic but something is wrong.
Would agree with most of them barring Brady. Only problem been that we need depth and adding 5 players is a must, not stripping the squad of a shed load of players
I still think he'd be good from the bench. pre Long-Jelavic, our best strike-partnership performance this season was Koren-Sagbo against Fulham. Not sure why it hasn't been used more when Long or Jelavic are unavailable. Possibly worth looking at a 4-3-3 against Arsenal with Sagbo and Koren either side of Fryatt?
