I am not doom and gloom, without MC we would now be in admin or worse. But there are a lot more debts coming out of the woodwork than MC was aware of. I think we now know why others were reducing bids already on the table when due diligence was carried out.

MC is on record as saying if he had known the size of the problem he wouldn't have bought us. Paper talk maybe, but perhaps he is thinking his due diligence wasn't diligent enough.

Not sure who this is aimed at, I was only pointing out an article in the papers. I remain positive about Cellino but i have quiet concerns that I hope are unjust. The main one being his promise to buy back ER before the end of the year. If he comes through on that alone I will remain positive <ok>

As for "Doom and Gloom Brigade" can you seriously point out anything positive in the last 5 years apart from Cellino saving us from going under? It really has been a doom and gloom period

Apparently Haigh still wants to buy £150k of LUFC shares 'for the supporters'. Have to say that the very last paragraph confuses me no end!

    http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....gh-still-keen-to-buy-shares-in-club-1-6603121

Former Leeds United managing director David Haigh is persisting with an offer to buy shares in the club worth £150,000, despite his and Sport Capital’s attempt to claw back almost £1million from Elland Road.

Leeds have been served with a winding-up order by Sport Capital – a company with strong links to Haigh – over a loan taken from the firm last year but a proposal to convert part of a separate debt into shares remains on the table for owner Massimo Cellino to consider.

United, who have been under growing financial pressure for the past two years, received two separate payments from Sport Capital in November, one of £950,000 and a second of £825,000.

The loans were used to finance operating costs at Elland Road at a time when Sport Capital was bidding to buy Leeds from Gulf Finance House and GFH – the Bahraini investment bank – had moved to reduced its funding of United ahead of the proposed takeover.

Sport Capital’s bid fell through in January, leaving Cellino to negotiate his own buy-out of the club, but the Italian received a demand for repayment of the £950,000 loan shortly before completing his 75 per cent takeover on April 7.

Leeds have since been served with a winding-up petition after failing to settle the debt and the petition is due to be heard at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on June 9.

The YEP understand that most of the second loan of £825,000 has already been repaid to Sport Capital but a sum of close to £150,000 has been left in the club after a claim by Haigh that he would look to purchase a shareholding in Leeds and hand it over to one or a number of supporters groups.

Cellino, however, has not responded to the proposal since completing his buy-out of GFH and is unlikely to be willing to dilute his own stake.

Haigh, 36, was due to become United’s chief executive under Cellino but resigned as managing director within days of the Italian’s takeover, claiming threats by Cellino to sack him had made his position untenable.

In a statement announcing his resignation on April 11, Haigh said: “I have arranged for Sport Capital to convert some of the loans made to the club into shares and once complete, those shares will be given to the fans so it truly will be the fans’ club.”

The YEP understands that neither the Leeds United Supporters Trust (LUST) nor the Leeds United Supporters Club (LUSC) have been officially approached about Haigh’s plan.

Sport Capital’s winding-up petition is a more pressing issue for Cellino who has little over four weeks to pay the company around £960,000 – a figure which includes a small amount of “profit” – or face the prospect of Leeds incurring a winding-up order.

The loans to United last November were made through Sport Capital Limited, a company based in Guernsey.

The off-shore firm is connected to other companies by the name of Sport Capital, one located in the British Virgin Islands and another incorporated in the UK last year.

Haigh operates as a director of the UK arm but, contrary to yesterday’s YEP report, is not a director or shareholder of the Guernsey company – the firm responsible for issuing the winding-up petition. The loans to United, however, were predominately personal funds put up by him. Haigh was unavailable for comment last night.

    Found it!

    http://www.itv.com/news/calendar/update/2014-05-08/former-leeds-director-being-questioned-by-police/

It is believed that former Leeds United MD David Haigh is currently being questioned by police over an allegation of theft at Elland Road.

It centres on the apparent discovery of spy cameras in toilets and the boardroom at Leeds United leading to an allegation of club funds being misappropriated for the purchase of technical equipment.

The 36-year-old voluntarily went to a police station in West Yorkshire this morning and has since been interviewed under caution.

The thing that pisses me off is that GFH (Club owners) wouldn't use their own money to ensure the club could operate. They have just posted a £4m profit on Leeds Utd shares, yet ...... These ****s should have been ripped apart by the FL because the owners were not doing their job and carrying out the functions of owners. They took money out and forced other people to use their own money and if it failed it would mean all the small creditors taking a bath again. This should be illegal but the FL fail in their duty as usual

    Good guess, Simon!

    http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news...ra-fraud-probe-1-6605127#.U2ur7UTMouI.twitter

THE spy camera saga at Leeds United took another sensational twist today after former managing director David Haigh claimed the surveillance devices were installed following reports Class A drugs were being used at Elland Road.

Mr Haigh, who quit the club last month, made the claims after being interviewed under caution by West Yorkshire Police over allegations thousands of pounds in club money were fraudulently used to pay for spy cameras at the ground.

He attended a police station voluntarily and was spoken to by detectives less than a month after new owner Massimo Cellino discovered the surveillance equipment during a security sweep of the ground.

In a statement released this afternoon, the 36-year-old said he had given a “full statement to police officers” investigating complaints made by the club’s new majority shareholders that cameras were found at Elland Road.

He said: “As the former Managing Director of the club, David was fully aware of the installation of these devices which were quite properly paid for by the club.

“They were put in place following reports which he received between the end of January and early March this year alleging the recent misuse of Class A drugs. One of these reports was made by police.

“It was, and remains, David’s view that not to have taken action to seek to provide evidence against the alleged perpetrators would have been in breach of his duty as a fit and proper person to be handling the day to day running of a Football League club.

“David is of the firm belief that illegal drugs have no place in football. He will continue to co-operate fully with any police or other enquiries.”

Though the discovery of the cameras at Elland Road were not in themselves enough to prompt a criminal probe, West Yorkshire Police have confirmed they are looking into alleged misappropriation of funds.

The investigation was confirmed by the force on April 11, the same day Mr Haigh resigned as managing director and quit the club, saying he had no alternative “owing to various statements made by and on behalf of the new majority owners”.

His resignation is not thought to have been connected to the on-going police case.

No arrests have been made and the club has not yet commented on the investigation. It is not known who had the cameras fitted.

Interviews under caution are carried out when police have grounds to suspect someone of an offence, though the person being interviewed may still attend on a voluntary basis.

If they are suspected of an offence the person must be cautioned before being asked any further questions, as unless this is done their answers or silence cannot be used in court.

Mr Haigh, 36, joined Leeds as a director in November 2012 after Gulf Finance House’s takeover of the club. He became managing director in July 2013.

He led a proposed takeover of the club by Sport Capital in November 2013 but the bid collapsed in January, allowing Cagliari president Massimo Cellino to step in and buy Leeds.

Mr Haigh was due to become club chief executive under Cellino but resigned as managing director and quit the club on April 11 after Cellino completed his 75 per cent takeover and threatened to sack him.

In his resignation statement, Mr Haigh said: “Owing to various statements made by and on behalf of the new majority owners of Leeds United FC, I am left with no alternative than to resign as managing director of the club.”

In November 2013, Sport Capital made two loans to United, one for £950,000 and another for £825,000. The money was predominately personal cash put up by Mr Haigh and was used to pay United’s operating costs amid growing financial pressures at Elland Road.

The loan of £825,000 has been largely repaid but the second loan of £950,000 is still owed to Sport Capital.

The company requested repayment of the money last month but Cellino failed to meet a deadline of April 24 .

Sport Capital has since issued a winding-up petition against the club, which is due to be heard in the Royal Courts of Justice in London on June 9.

A spokesman for Leeds United declined to comment on Mr Haigh’s claims.

    Think this might be linked?

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/19/police-called-drug-scandal-major-club

A major football club in England has been rocked by a drugs scandal that has gone as far as the police and the English authorities, the Observer can reveal.

The police were called in to investigate after senior members of staff started suspecting some of their colleagues were regularly using class-A drugs inside the stadium. The allegations go to the top of the club and involve at least one high-profile figure with a considerable reputation within the sport.

On one occasion, two prominent officials were allegedly caught snorting cocaine in the boardroom of a rival club during an away fixture. Rumours of the incident have spread among other clubs in the same division. Officials of the league in question have been made aware and are treating it as a first within the sport.

However, there are people at the relevant club who are concerned it may be more a more widespread problem than just the one case. At a home match, one member of the club's hierarchy became concerned when he noticed the residue of a white powder on the clothing of a colleague as he took his seat.

The club cannot be named for legal reasons but a high-ranking source has confirmed that internal inquiries began "following allegations that hard drugs were being consumed by certain people on the premises".

He added: "The police have been informed, as have the relevant league, so it is now a matter for the police to find out if there is a case to answer."

Cellino has a bit of a reputation in Italy for being fond of cocaine. Also remember his drunken comments about Haigh "taking his picture" and trying to blackmail him.
