Was talking with a mate over lunch and we were debating just how good this year's league has been in terms of twists and turns and where it ranks given that we are a matter of days away from it's end.
Personally my view is that it has been the best season in general for the PL since it began.
The fact that, up to a few weeks ago 4 teams were in the title hunt and that up to 10 teams were fighting it out for the relegation slots is testament to how exciting it has been overall.
Not sure we will see a season like this again but what a cracker we've had.

Undeniably it's been exciting for a neutral. But I've fallen well out of love with football in general. From the corruption of FIFA, to the vastly bloated coffers at City & Chelsea making it impossible to even conceive of CL football, to the sycophantic media blowing air up Dubai and Roman's a-holes without a single mention of the money, it's lost whatever edge it used to have. It's blunt.

So when I consider my overall feeling, I couldn't personally give a to$$. For all the variables, Qatar's money - the richest club - won the league. And it has been so depressing as a Toon fan that all I've seen at almost every other club is excitement. Not saying I'd swap with Cardiff, of course, but a pretty rubbish affair for us.

Football is **** now. No longer a game and those with the money influence everything.

FIFA need to disappear - Corrupt businessmen who never played the game professionaly.
UEFA - Platini is a disgrace. An ex player who should be ashamed of himself.
Premier League - Man City and Chelsea and other clubs with sugar daddies need to see their investors pull out and go into administration to bring some parity back to the game.
FA - Need to go **** themselves. No longer guardians of the game but greedy fat cats.
The players - The lot of them need to **** off. They should try doing a proper job for a normal wage and see how clever they think they are then.

This for me. I have become so disillusioned with football this season, for the reasons you've mentioned and most pertinantly, the further demise of NUFC. I live down south, so rarely get up to St James'. But I always endeavour to come up for a game or two a season, as well as attending as many London games as I can. This season, I went to West Ham away (a rare highlight), but have had no motivation to make the effort/financial outlay to come up for a match. I've just had all the joy sapped out of me, with regards to all things NUFC.

The general malaise in football has actually resulted in me cancelling Sky Sports long before the end of the season - the first time in 14 years that I've done so.

I've still watched the odd game at a friend house or in the pub, but not religiously like I used to. I can't even remember the last time I watched MOTD all the way through.

I just can be bothered with any of it anymore. Though, I do still find myself whiling days away on here or other NUFC related news sites, waiting for the announcement of Pardew & Ashley dying in a horrific helicopter accident...:emoticon-0138-think

Afraid it's been a bit of a low for me, just haven't enjoyed it the way I used to.

    It's certainly been eventful.

Story of the season, Man U fall from grace perhaps.

I think its up there with the best years in general, but, the number of clubs involved in the 'twists and turns' clinches it for me.
With so many clubs starting with new managers, it seems to have evened it out a bit.
Some of the football has been sublime and some obviously not.

The re-emergence of Liverpool and style of football they play, the demise of Man U has all helped make it.
Arsenal continue to play good football.

Man City will no doubt be crowned Champions and fair enough - if you score 100 goals you're obviously doing something right.
I don't buy into the Dubai money is spoiling it, far from it, football has been like that for the last 40 years, so if they're the current recipients of the biggest splash of money, so what.

At the bottom, its been interesting, especially with our friends down the road, providing some good laughs along the way.

In 'No-Mans Land' its been a bit boring, but, could have so much more and that's what is disappointing.

    Roll on the World Cup.....

I think it was a very good season for the neutral, but unfortunately Sunderland and Man City have pulled away, leaving the league's form virtually guaranteed going into the last game. Unless Norwich suddenly score half the goals they've scored all season on the last day, it'll be a bit of a pitiful end really. Been pretty abject as a Newcastle fan. I'll copy and paste that last sentence ready for next season's review <ok>

I would like to remind you that Newcastle finished 9th in the league something Sunderland will be aiming to do next year

Not yet, Stoke can still pip us if they win at West Brom, which I personally think they will.
