If we can get £1m that is good business.

The Chronicle understands that Newcastle could be prepared to offload Northern Ireland international Shane Ferguson this summer.

The left-sided player was loaned out to Birmingham City with the brief of returning to United this summer knocking on the door for a first-team place.

However, Toon chiefs have been less than impressed with his performances in the second half of the season and the fact that he slipped down the pecking order at St Andrews under Blues’ Geordie boss Lee Clark.

Ferguson’s fitness has been a key concern and he has made just 14 starts, scoring no goals for Birmingham.

United would be prepared to offload the winger for £1million.

His contract has two years left to run and Wolves were interested in the Derry lad’s services last summer.

I liked Ferguson from the first time I saw him, I thought he had a really good game in him and expected him to get a regular first team spot.

Maybe the footballers disease (booze) has got hold of him and he can't handle it.

A great pity and waste of talent.

Given more game time than most of the youngsters, but, unfortunately, it looks as it wont work out for him here.
Says it all when he can in the Birmingham team.

Shame, but take the money and run.
