Morning Everyone, Its a dull, damp and dreary day in Southampton, but worry not, the Breakfast debate is here to cheer you all up? Cellino has decided he needs to release a huge number of staff who work at both Elland Road and Thorp Arch. At least 70 people will be either sacked or made redundant as Cellino attempts to streamline the workforce and reduce overheads. Cellino has been waiting until the end of the season before deciding to take drastic action. The purge is understood to include management, administration staff and members of the general workforce. A Leeds source said: "He's spent the past weeks assessing the running of the club and what needs to be done. "The wage bill at Elland Road has alarmed him and he will take no prisoners when it comes to getting it down to a more manageable level." The 70 people above do not include players. In reality there needs to be a complete clear out. If you were to give me the names of 10 players that should be released, who would they be? We now know that Norwich will follow Fulham and Cardiff to the Championship next season. Which of the three will be of most threat to Leeds next season. Would we expect these teams to be able to keep all their best players?
Morning all... A little alarmed to hear that 70 people have to go. I am amazed Bates allowed a larger workforce than was necessary. As things stand every team in this division is a major threat to us and I see all three relegated teams finishing above us.
Morning ristac, I know what you're saying, but I thought QPR were going to walk the division... If these clubs lose their best players......
Good Morning from a very dull Bardsey I think that Wolves will be a strong team next season the relegates sides will not get auto spots because they will get rid of there better players in order to cut costs Still think that Wigan will get promotion so QPR must be in the mix HUNT must go and ply his trade elsewhere along with the following KENNY ASHDOWN NORRIS EHD MORRISON VARNEY BROWN SORRY TO OLD! ZALUKAS DRURY Feel very sorry for the sacked staff will create a bad atmosphere for a while
Morning all, 10 players to release/transfer list: Kenny Ashdown Peltier (Forest?) Green (Ipswich) Lees Tonge Pugh Brown Hunt Morison Of the three relegated clubs, think Norwich are most at risk of losing their best players, so will be weaker than Cardiff and Fulham. EDIT: having seen 60's list I forgot to include Varney, Norris, EHD and Drury so I make that 14 to go
Seems Masterbates Cellino has bitten off more than he can chew - think he needed to sell Cagliari, but since this hasn't happened he's close to going broke!!
Morning all. While it i sad to see people lose their jobs, if we have 70 unnecessary staff, he must be applauded for seeing that and taking action. First time we've had an owner use his own money so easy to see why Leeds will be run as a business. As for players to let go, Im not bothered going through the list of rubbish we have yet again. One thing seems obvious, anyone with a job left in August better be prepared to work at it, players management and staff, as it should be
IAs you point out I think Morison is on 850k a year alone!Kenny will be on a pretty packet too! You state you now need another 4 PELTIER GREEN LEES TONGE
Morning all. Sad if we are about to lose 70 support staff. One wonders how we've been over-manned by quite such an amount for so long. On players, who we say bye bye to will depend on who we are planning to bring in and for which position. Theory has it that Brown could be out the door. This can only happen if we have a ready made replacement lined up. Some how I doubt it and he'll get another year's extension. On those I think will go, we have Kenny, Ashdown, Drury, Peltier, Green, Tonge, Kebe, Norris, EHD, Morrison, & Hunt.
Think Stewart will stay, if the deal has already been agreed. Not really sure what the fuss around Poleon is, he's no closer to the first team than he was at the end of last season. No progression. May as well let him leave too
Poleons still only 20 too early to say he's not going to make it.Delph struggled for his first 18 months at Villa, this season player of the season.Sam Vokes struggled at Leeds didn't score enough this season lots of goals and played big part in Burnleys promotion. He's now 24 as is Delph at 23 both looked like they wouldn't make it.
Afternoon all from a very rainy Bristol. Theres a few alarm bells going off for me regarding Cellino. Maybe its the case of once bitten twice shy and all that.
Think Morrison's a gonna anyway Eire. Didn't he say he didn't want to come back to Leeds. He'll be a 'Wall legend next season!!! On Poleon, I just hope he goes way during the summer and thinks about what he's got to do to break into the team o a regular basis. Either that or he'll end up like Ryan Hall, causing trouble at a nothing non league team
