Looks like we're off to the US of A pre-season and surprise, surprise Jacksonville will be the base, with a game against Eddie Johnson's side already booked:

"Fulham Football Club and D.C. United are scheduled to play a friendly soccer match at Jacksonville’s EverBank Field on Saturday, July 26. The match will be part of preseason preparations for Fulham in advance of their 2014 season, while it will be a midseason friendly for D.C. United. The Jacksonville Jaguars and SMG are hosting the event.

“We’re looking forward to staging this match for fans of both types of football and introducing Fulham not only to Jacksonville, but to fans throughout the state and nation,” said Shahid Khan, owner of Fulham and the Jaguars. “There is great passion in the Jacksonville area for soccer, and this will be a rare opportunity to see our Fulham team play in Jacksonville, and against one of the premier professional franchises in American soccer.”

It was always going to happen really. Jaguars play here, we play there. Funnily enough I joked in the Damien Duff thread that if he joins DC United he could play with EJ. Imagine his first game for them was against us.

You guys are English. I'm traveling from Rotterdam to Hull (home of the Tigers ) in August, then meeting up with some friends in Blackburn for a biker event. I'm thinking of making a siteseeing detour to York and/or Leeds. Are both or either worth seeing?

York is beautiful and definitely worth a trip. Not so sure about Leeds - I've only ever gone there to see sport. Like Sheffield (& Hull), Leeds is a bustling Yorkshire city, better for working than sightseeing.

Cool. Thanks for the info. We'll see York and skip Leeds, then. I might be traveling with some Swedes, so we'll go to the Viking Center and chase the English around with axes. Should be fun.

If anyone wants travel advice for the USA or Germany, let me know.

I haven't been able to find the date of the Crawley game yet it may not have been confirmed, but on the Crawley website it states that a home pre season friendly against Fulham has been confirmed!

Sorry I'm a bit late DR. Wise choice to skip Leeds - the city centre has been tarted up and that's about all you can say really. York obviously has the Minster and some decent pubs in The Shambles. However if you want to see the real Yorkshire, the triangle of Wetherby/Harrrogate/Ilkley just to the west of York is worth touring around.

    PS There's only one Viking

York is definately the right choice: Jorvik Centre, walk the walls and down the lanes, then down to the rivers. Enjoy.

You can visit the National Railway Museum as well. Some fantastic Steam engines there.

On a less serious note, don't forget to visit the Yorkshire Museum of Farming, just outside York.
