There might be takers now we're in The Conference Ron as they can buy the majority share off the trust for a lower price than they woul pay if we were still in league 2. I don't care who buys it as long as the first thing they do is pay off Ainsworth.
Wycombe had some good coverage on the Late Kick Off TV program tonight. Showing highlights of the game (with Chairboys Player commentary), the wait for the final score at Bristol and Gaz swinging on the crossbar. Also interview with the chairman and some fans. They picked out the best goals of the season and the last one shown was Sam Wood. Interestingly one of the presenters mentioned the takeover and said an international footballer was involved and great things can be expected. Seemed to know something.
My son contacted me today & said Luther Blissett was the footballer where he got the name from I have no idea because he is of an age where he probably has no idea who Luther Blissett is by that I mean 30 or under
The real Luther Blissett or ................................... "Blissett and the "Luther Blissett Project" Main article: Luther Blissett (nom de plume) Blissett's name has been adopted by many people in radical activist circles as a nom de plume or collective alias when engaged in unusual performances, situationist pranks, media hoaxes, and the production of radical theory. The Luther Blissett multiple name project first began in 1994 in Italy, no doubt a consequence of his link with A.C. Milan, and has since then been widely used by artists, underground reviews, poets, performers and squatters' collectives in cities throughout Europe and South America. In 1999 "Luther Blissett" authored a historical novel called Q, which sold hundreds of thousands of copies in over ten languages. On 30 June 2004, the real Luther Blissett took part in the British television sports show Fantasy Football League – Euro 2004, broadcast on ITV. He jokingly claimed that he himself was part of the Luther Blissett Project, and read aloud the following sentence from an LBP manifesto (in Italian): "Chiunque può essere Luther Blissett, semplicemente adottando il nome Luther Blissett" [Anyone can be Luther Blissett simply by adopting the name Luther Blissett]."
I to have heard Luther Blisset and also Robbie Fowler but Blissett has no money and may be a front man although I understand the consortium is made up mainly made up of ex player's keen on nurturing young talent hence the academy link
Could be Robbie Fowler. He is pretty rich: "In association with long term friend Steve McManaman, Fowler has invested in several racehorses through a chattily named company The Macca and Growler Partnership, most notably 2003 Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Celebration Chase runner-up Seebald. In 2005, Fowler was listed as one of the 1,000 wealthiest Britons by the Sunday Times Rich List, with the paper estimating he has a property portfolio of more than 80, while his Robbie Fowler Sports Promotions company has been reported to have net assets of £1.58 million. Other business interests including a large property portfolio have resulted in Fowler's net wealth totaling £28 million" He does owe us. He scored what turned out to be the goal that knocked us out of the FA Cup Semi Final
"People don't know the details. But what comes out in the next few days about where Wycombe could be going, if supporters allow the next stage to happen, will be fantastic and really exciting." Wycombe Wanderers chairman Don Woodward 8th May 2014
According to fans on our gasboard this is not happening now, we do like to make things difficult for ourselves and i'm sure more info will leak out in the next few days, if true it's a poor way to run a football club!
http://www.wycombewandererstrust.com/2014/05/trust-chairman-gives-an-update Its no exclusive link, a statement by the trust this morning has basically said that the takeover will not happen - disappointing in my books, I was hoping for a solid midtable season next year.... without investment I worry about a relegation battle again
Under the same manager with the same awful tactics as we now can't afford to dump him, i have a feeling Rovers fans will be laughing at US next season!
We don't have a youth academy but that doesn't stop us from scouting to find top quality local youngsters to invite to join us in training.
He's still learning his trade Mowgli. If he can get the team playing like he did against Torquay, with players saying they did it for him, he is worth persevering with in my opinion. I for one would not want to see him go.
No point having this as a sticky any more. I thought this was going to be a lively topic. What an anti climax.
Well i hope i'm proved wrong Ron i just don't want another tortuous season like the last one my ticker won't take it!
