Congratulations to every-one who helped Pompey achieve an incredible (for League Two) average league attendance of 15,461. This was more than double the next highest (Plymouth Argyle's 7,305). It was higher than all except Wolves and Sheffield Utd in League One and higher than 12 of the 24 clubs in the Championship.
Hi Dev. It's also given us more financial security at long last, far more fans came through the gates than was expected. Can't wait till next season, a feeling that's been almost forgotten.
Based on the last few games under our new Manager I reckon the number of season tickets sold next season will beat this year's 10,600. I'm going for 13-14k That will see our average gate rise as well, plus give the club more money to get rid of the legacy debts quicker. Can't help feeling very optimistic now - although we will have occasional dips in form over the next year, the players know without a doubt what is expected of them now.
Well, if ever a change of manager was worth the risk, it was That one. Had you just survived with the previous incumbent then I fear your season ticket numbers would have dwindled significantly. As it is, lots to be positive about looking forward. Surely Pompey has now bottomed-out and it's finally on the up for your club?
It's quite surreal Channon. We're all thinking positive thoughts again and have ended the season with smiles on our faces - even though it was our lowest ever league finishing position!
How ironic it is that Saints have just had their best ever season in the Premiership and yet you can probably hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from here, as many are convinced that our manager and top players are about to leave!
