I would love to see Sturridge come to SJP either permanently or on loan, but I cannot see us paying him £70k per week.

I would expect the fee to be around £18 million which, strangely, I can see Mike Ashley paying, even though he wants to buy cheap, develop and sell on at a profit. But I cannot see him paying anyone £70k pw anymore.

    edit

I wonder how the loan deal with Bolton was structured, because I cannot imagine them being able to pay £70k pw for a loaned player.

Are you sure? He hardly walks round with his salary tattooed on his forehead. How do you know his wage?

I'd be delighted if we got him on loan, he only has two years left on his current deal so he might be available on the cheap at the end of this season. Caught Offside though? Clearly bullshit, and as soon as a site/newspaper mentions "club source" you can immediately disregard the rumour.

If we could get him on loan with a future fee like we did with Hatem it would be excellent business.

Paper's reporting that Boas would want Eto'o as well so Chelsea's striking options would probably be.....

    Torres
    Falcao
    Eto'o
    Kalou
    Drogba
    Sturridge
    Anelka

Then add Lukaku to that, can't see Sturridge getting much game time.

Might be worth going for Kalou or Anelka if we can't get Sturridge and the fee/wages are reasonable.

    Syd,

I'd hate for there to be any animosity between our two clubs over a loan deal for Sturridge so in the spirit of camaraderie, peace and well being we can loan you Perch.

Imagine a front three of Sturridge with his pace and positioning, Ba with his aerial ability and hold up play and Ben Arfa just behind, picking up the 2nd ball and providing the flair!

I'd be ridiculously excited about the start of the season if we got him!

Kalou perhaps, not sure i'd want Anelka, i'd prefer the Drog and he's probably the more likely of the pair to leave.

We'll take him off your hands for a pair of bicycle clips, so long as you don't play Shola on derby days.

O'Hara is over-rated! More famous for who he's shagging than his football.

Possibly, wouldn't have paid £5million for him.

In related news, Villas-Boas has now been confirmed as Chelsea boss.
