    Morning Everyone,

A new competition for B teams of Premier League and Championship clubs will be considered by the Football Association on Wednesday.

One proposal is for these second teams to play in a league sandwiched between League Two and the Conference. Another option is to merge the B teams with League Two and the Conference to form two regional leagues. The plans are part of FA chairman Greg Dyke's commission looking at ways to improve the national team's fortunes.

Clubs in Spain, Germany and the Netherlands currently have B sides playing in lower divisions on the proviso that they cannot be promoted.

Is this good thing for football?

Could it be a good thing for Leeds utd?

Who deserves to go up from the play offs?

Who would we like to see go up in the play offs?

Morning all. Can't for the life of me see what difference a b league will make. Imagine the standard our b team would be at. Maybe our first squad could play in that and be competitive. It's all just messing about with figures. When you see city getting a 50m fine and our entire club isn't worth that when ten years ago we were arguably worth more and a bigger club than them, it's shows the gap that's developed between the top few in the pl and the rest. Clubs like Bolton, Blackburn, Birmingham basically broke after spending many recent seasons in pl and still banjaxed, doesn't augur well for the future for us. I've said this previously but I'm not convinced I want to see us back in the pl at all. What have Norwich got for their couple of seasons? What did the visit do for QPR, Wolves, and many others. They're no better off than us in reality and their memories in the top flight include only handfuls of victories to savour and bucket loads of hammerings. For me, a top half championship team, able to financially break even will do for a good while

    Morning Eire,

Are you saying you wouldn't spend good money watching players like Norris and White showing off their skills?

Morning all. I wouldn't even spend bad money watching Norris!!! White on the other hand still has something to offer. Perhaps we should club together and send him a DVD of Snoddy's best bits. If he could copy that, given his naturall pace, he'd be epic.

Morning all ... Spain have a very good La Liga that is competitive where on their day anyone can beat anyone, and of course they have two teams competing in the Chumps Lge Final, and one of them ain't Barcelona ... Spain have B teams of the bigger clubs playing in the lower divisions ... Segunda (our Championship) is a national league with Barcelona B and Real Madrid Castilla playing in it (of course neither can win promotion, and Castilla have won the title once), teams like Deportivo, Zaragoza, Mallorca are currently in this division trying to get back to LaLiga ... they then have Segunda B (our Lge One) and this is split into four regional leagues, with Barcelona C and Real Madrid C teams playing here, along with B teams from clubs like Atletico, Getafe, Sociedad, Bilbao, Espanyol, Villareal, well you get the picture ... with Spain's success at international level, and their excellent domestic football, you can see why the FA are looking at the way their game is set up ... HOWEVER ... the problem for England is not the leagues, it's Sky and the Prem and the fact that money is being wasted in bucket loads on ordinary players from abroad, and very little trickles down the leagues to aid the survival (nevermind growth) of clubs, meaning the production line stops producing real talent ... the fact that Arsenal recently put out a starting eleven with just one Brit (a Welshman) in it is damning ... I still believe that the only way the FA will fix the problem is to put in a ruling that seven of your STARTING eleven must be English ... screw European law and "restraint of trade", this is all about the future of the game and the development of English talent

    Morning all,

For purely selfish reasons I'd like to see Wigan go up as Forest, Derby and Brighton are easier for me to get to for away games.

Also think we're being a little unfair on Norris. He's been injured most of the season and offers far more than the likes of Austin. Still think we should get rid of him but he's not a bad player.

EDIT: I meant QPR not Forest

Hmm not sure about the new proposal with the League system. My local league used to have something similar where the teams in the Premier Division would have a 'reserve' team and they played in the reserve league where as long as your A team was in the Premier you stayed in the reserve league and could not be relegated or promoted, it was just more or less a feeder for the A team, but essentially what happened was the big Town teams got stronger and the village teams etc struggled and they're reserve teams often struggled taking heavy beatings each week and had the opposite affect as players were not as available and it resulted in the reserve league being scrapped and letting them 2nd teams go down other divisions where they could be competitive and it's much better that way.

What would happen here then? Essentially we would see under 21's and that playing this reserve league I guess, on a pro level, it might work as you would expect to have player's of a certain standard able to compete and push on for first team spots. It will be interesting to see how this develops, if they think it will benefit then go for it, better to try and know for sure. Looking at the National sides mentioned...if the system works there it might be worth a shot but I think the player's ability lies more in coaching at a young level rather than adult b leagues promoting it.

Change the methods of coaching at basement level and become technically better and be encouraged to do so.

Derby deserve to as they finished highest but I would like Wigan to go up.

Good morning from a wet sometimes sunny Bardsey
I about to write a very controversial article re Smith and McCormack I hope you get so9mething to debate out of it
I said weeks ago Leicester burnley and Wigan will be promoted Wigan werent even in the top6 at the time.
I feel that Wigan can give any team a good game and have sound experience of cup ties
Like Derby to get promoted as they always get the better of us
AS for this proposal if it improves our youngsters then it should be welcomed

    Morning All,

The only skill White has is pace. And with no other skills that are noticeable, I'd suggest that the only place his skill could be best used at ER is behind the bar, to get the queues down at half time. <whistle>

Fair point Shaks. If we do play Norwich, I hope Howson and Snoddy in particular get a decent and respectful welcome from Beeston's finest. Quite reasonable in my book that they wanted to better themselves. Shame it didn't work out. Let's hope a revitalised Leeds show them the error of their ways and give them a good tonking.

That's why I suggested he look closely at videos/DVDs of Snoddy. If he can learn from him, with his pace he'll be an exceptional player. If he doesn't he'll be a bit part player next season.

... screw European law and "restraint of trade",...

Good call Billy, but not practical whilst we remain governed by European law. Interesting that few if any British companies would employ such a significant percentage of foreigners is is the case with football clubs. The problem is the tv money. Without that, few sides could affprd to pay the exorbitent wages even average foreign (and it has to be said Brit players) can demand.

Hate to say it, but even the sc&m promote Brit players, rather than just bring in a shed load of foreigners. One wonders how such a ruling as you're suggesting Billy would impact on Citeh an teams like them.

It would drive the price of the very few world class British players through the roof, to the extent that only Citeh could afford them. :bandit:

    Sad, but probably true.
