Swansea City continue to rise in world rankings In the latest statistics released by IFFHS Swansea City have gone up six places in the world club rankings. The Premier League side have held their position in the top 100 list and are currently ranked 91st despite being involved in a relegation fight in the past few weeks. Points are accumulated by wins and draws in domestic and European competitions. English football is graded as a level 4 by IFFHS meaning Swansea are able to pick up the maximum number of points domestically. The rankings are judged by the number of points picked up over a 12 month period which is then summarised at the end of the month to give the new standings. Swansea showed some indifferent form throughout April recording two wins but also two defeats. At the start of the month they suffered defeats to Chelsea and fellow strugglers Hull City which put Garry Monkâs team in relegation trouble. They managed to up their performances later on in the month with two wins on the bounce against Newcastle United and Aston Villa. Swansea have struggled in the league this season but it is their involvement in the Europa League which has propelled them into the top 100. They managed to qualify from the group stages of the competition before eventually being knocked out by Napoli but this run gave them valuable ranking points. Swanseaâs 91st position means they are still ranked by IFFHs as the 6th best side from the Premier League. They are currently above the likes of Newcastle United and the Merseyside clubs. However Swansea do have some way to catch the rest of the highest ranked Premier League clubs with Chelsea in 9th place, followed by Arsenal (13th), Tottenham (17th), Manchester City (26th) and Manchester United (35th).
