In my positive frame of mind....come on u RRRRs A reason to be VERY cheerful if we don't win the playoffs http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/qpr-set-to-sign-rio-ferdinand/ QPR set to sign Rio Ferdinand if QPR get to Premiership PLEASE NO
We are entering the silly season again when we are going to be linked with absolutely every player whose contract is expiring, looks slightly unsettled or whose agent is trying to get them a deal somewhere else. I wouldn't pay any particular heed to all the aging players that will be linked to us over the next couple of months, it is more than likely that it is just lazy journalism. Should it be true of course, I'll be laying siege to gates at Loftus Road.
Unfortunately, history has a way of repeating itself ............... however, like Beth has mentioned and the rest of you good people, I'm staying positive for two reasons. 1 - If return to the PL, it is the place we strive for and wish to settle. However ..... 2 - If we don't make it up, in truth, that could well be a blessing in disguise. All the wannabe's will take off, can't see the manager staying so we have a big clean out and rebuild the right way. This way, when we are fit to challenge again and make it to the PL, hopefully, the club as a whole will be in the right frame of mind to make a go at it, rather than buying in another team of mercenaries. Just my two bobs worth.
I have to say that, although I absolutely agree that we need to buy young, hungry players, we will undoubtedly need some experience to keep us up (if we get there!). Rio Ferdinand, when fit, is still a better CB than any we have at the club. I'd take him for a year on a pay as you play deal.
Fair enough. But not if it breaks the bank. If he feels he can get into the starting line up at a bigger club fine he's welcome to go there. It would be nice if the dream which is sold to older recruits is that you can help mould a little club into a decent side. If you want to be paid more than Clint Hill is going to be paid, go to one of them. We're not offering you the chance to top up your pension pot just the chance of regular first team football and the chance to pass on something to the younger players in the squad. Not interested? Fine then piss off. The same goes for our old friend Gary Hooper when he's desperate to leave Carrow Road. Sorry son you had your chance.
I had forgotten about him ............... I think every other football person had as well. He certainly would have been a great buy, NOT!
Gary Hooper Played 31 Scored 6 Ricky van Wolfswinkel (another name that quite a few people on here touted and bemoaned the fact that we didn't go after/get.) Played 25 Scored 1
Hooper has his time last august and now he can rotten in the depth of championship with that volfenswinkel......I know norwich hasnt relegated yet but they are doomed.
