Regrettably, there are some members of this Forum who firmly believe that their opinions/points of view are the only relevant ones. Debate is not within their compass, either through personality, or intellectual, failings. They get upset very easily, and are quick to insult, abuse, etc.,to garner attention, and try to force their opinions on others. In school, they would probably have been in remedial class. Disruption is second nature to them. They are difficult people to deal with, their feelings of persecution further influencing their actions.
Been a member of lots of forums but now tend to stay here pretty much. I have to say that the level of debate is good by and large but I've rarely encountered a forum where so many people get soooooooo angry with one another. Also, there seems to be a belief that the longer youve been a fan the more you know and your opinion has more value than anyone else's. Stop press! It doesn't. I've been a fan for 43 years but the young 'uns still have very good points to make and come out with observations that I often agree with. I just think a bit more respect is needed guys, unless you're dealing with that oldsparkey guy. He's just a pompous twat.
I'm not against debate. The notion that I'd be in the remedial class for not enjoying this debate (if that was aimed at me) is a tad unfair. I don't think I've avoided the debate (apart from the 'toys out of the pram' episode last night which I apologised for, and rightly so), but it's strayed so far from debate over the right and wrong decisions that it's polarised into which fans are being 'numpties' or 'apologisers' or even worse, sheep. I'm not saying what happened to Laudrup is irrelevant, I'm saying his record with regards to Monk (and his getting a contract) is irrelevant. Whether Monk gets a contract or not should not be impacted in any way by whether Laudrup had a fair trial or a better win percentage. Secondly, I still continue to stand by my statement that not everyone on here (or at the stadium) is the 'real deal' when it comes to being labelled as 'loving the club'. Lastly, I want to clear up the implication that I will follow Jenkins, the board or anyone else blindly. I do not, have not, nor will I ever follow anyone blindly. I just thought the point that Jenkins record speaks for itself. If he felt Laudrup should go, there may be things we will never know outside of the football on the pitch (however people feel about that). If we ever hear about those reasons, we may then agree/disagree as we see fit. It still doesn't take away the record Jenkins has of picking the right person for the job. On that basis, I added the caveat that if he remains objective and then picks Monk, we are not in the nest position to decry it.
I think most of the responses were in fact aimed at your petulant toys and pram episode Shaper, nothing else.
Besides the wales on line article and a few articles that copied it , not much being said about this 2 year contract for Monk. Maybe Garry isn't getting it , and let me add that I hope he does .I accept the fact that we will probably go backwards , compared to last season , on transfer and wage spending and am not really against it .
And credit to Shaper, he apologised for it. Some on here never bother to do that. Good to see and we can all move on as cyber mates arguing, debating, agreeing, disagreeing and doing what we came here to do.
