Returning from a 3-2 defeat in the first leg at Fulham, the Baby Blues were able to stage a great comeback to win a 3rd FA Youth Cup in 5 years. Fulham Youth took the lead through Frenchman Moussa Dembele before Tika Musonda equalised for us via the penalty spot. Jordan Houghton then leveled things up for us on aggregate before successive goals for Fulham via Patrick Roberts and Solomon Sambou gave Fulham a commanding lead at half-time. A sweet strike from Isak Ssewankambo got us to 3-3 on the night before a looped header minutes later from Dominic Solanke brought us level on aggregate once again. With 8 minutes left on the clock we seemed to be heading for extra time, but some lovely play by us in the 92nd minute and Solanke was able to grab the winner for us and 2nd on the night for him. Congratulations to the youth team. A well deserved victory. Enjoy your night lads!
Congratulations but a serious question, what does the future hold for any of these youngsters at Chelsea ? I think that's your 3rd FA Youth Cup victory in 5 years, but how many of this years players will get the opportunity to cement a career at the club. I could be wrong but I don't remember any of the previous 2 winning sides playing first team football and the fact that you've spent almost £400m on new players since the 2010 win suggests the focus is on buying ready made talent rather than developing it. Not a swipe at Chelsea, just an observation...
Something to smile about at last! At least the trophy cabinet wont be completely bare this season! Always remember in the early 60's when we won it 2 years on the bounce against Everton and Preston and I was at both home legs at the Bridge! Missed it tonight though!
Congrats Baby Blues. That Loftus-Cheek is a prospect. Saw him get some play-time in America pre-season on C.T.V. Jose gave him a special mention back then.
That early 60s team contained some talent - Bridges, Venables to name but two from my fading memory!!!!
