Steven Fletcher seems to be a 'happily forgotten' man ........ imo he just doesn't have the integrity to succeed.

The media seem to have totally missed the fact that our high priced striker has been missing for much of the season.

A consequence of that was that Altidore was pushed into a role that doesn't suit him.

It's interesting to see that Altidore was excellent at Man Utd and also Chelsea when he came on and won the match.

I'd hope to see Wickham and Altidore up front together against Swansea if we beat West Brom.

But what do we do with Fletcher .........

Fletch wants out anyway. He has no future here.

I don't know where his future could be tbh ........ he just doesn't have the drive to be a top player.

He's a white, bearded, jug-eared Kenwyne Jones imo and his goal celebrations are nowhere near as good.

Will be sold on the cheap in the summer imo

I'd have Jozy over him every day of the week

Despite the obvious ridicule I'll have directed at me I still believe Altidore can become a Sunderland hero.

I'd absolutely love the lad to score a blinding winner against West Brom ....... he deserves it for helping us beat Chelsea & Man Utd imo.

We all knew we paid over the odds for him, maybe due to Bruce leaving us so exposed that MON had to stump up.

Sadly I see him sitting around in Sunderland colours until his contract expires. He won't get the wages else where. Maybe he will be loaned but far too many times we pay over the odds to sit around doing **** all.

    David Healy was the worst.

To be fair to fletcher most of the season he has been injured or disinterested.

Wickham has jumped to our number 1 striker.

I've always been pro Altidore, although he's not gonna be someone who would be able to do what Wickham did and score us to safety, but he has other qualities, and has shown it consistently.

It nearly cost us him being the main striker for most of the season, poor lad's confidence in front of goal is shot to bits, and it's clear to see whenever he gets a sight of goal, but now Wickham has come in and done fantastically it means there isn't as much onus on him to score goals.

Hope he stays, although I wouldn't blame him for trying to get a fresh start.

I think we are being harsh on Fletcher, he has class and if he buckles down Gus will find a use for him, if not he will be sold on.

Would love Jozy to score the goal that ensures our EPL status. That would surely justify his transfer fee alone.

forgive me if I'm wrong but he's been injured for pretty much a whole year has he not? regardless of attitude if a player is unable to play that doesn't make him worthless or lazy.

I agree, it's when he has played that he's looked worthless and lazy.

I've never been his biggest fan, we just need to get rid I'm afraid.

You're all being really, really harsh. He was injured all season and when we played him he was injured. Give him a summer and he'll be back like his first season and we'll have two great strikers banging the goals in week after week. KTF.

Great striker? Banging goals in week after week?

When has he ever been a great striker? Or knocked them in week after week?

Sorry, and maybe I am a but harsh on the lad, but hes never been great or a prolific striker who scores important goals.

First season when fit proved his worth. This season if he wasn't fit he should have said so. Looked disinterested to me.

I've always been a fan of Fletch, but sadly I think we should move him on.

He's been disinterested when he has played. Even though many slate Altidore, if Fletcher had the desire and willingness to battle like him he'd be 10x the player.
