    Hull 16 - 23 Wakefield Wildcats (att. 10 088)

Rovers 29-34 Widnes Vikings (att 7,007)

More defeats against small towns/large hamlets.

Surely it would be better to amalgamate and play at say, rugby hotbed Skirlaugh, to be able to offer a credible challenge to the 'big hitters' of the M62 corridor?

They sell weekend tickets, which means unless people watch two days of games, they can never have a full stadium, which means the total viewing figures can never exceed the numbers that would have watched them in a rugby ground. Cracking business model if it's by Mancunian pubs, but ****e for rugby league in general.

    Are they underachieving though?

Within the history of the game there are about 7 or 8 teams more successful clubs then Hull and about 10 more then Rovers.

Hull are like the Newcastle are in football. Big club in terms of infrastructure and crowds, but have grossly underachieved.

There is no doubt whatsoever that they have both underachieved massively in RL.

It's the herd of elephants in the local sports room.

I don't know exact numbers but both clubs have sold out of tickets for the Saturday and only have full weekend tickets left, so sales are unaffected by city.

Unless of course they asked for a reduced number in the first place.

    Are they underachieving ?
If there are 7 or 8 teams more successful then fc and 10 more then Rovers then the answer is massively yes when there are only 12 clubs in the league.
Fc are not like Newcastle at all, they are the size of Port Vale or Bury in football terms.
Rovers ? Scunthorpe or a small Doncaster Rovers.

If that were true it would be all over the HDM and Gwilym Lloyd would mention it every five minutes.

I think they get around 2000 tickets each someone at the gym told me. If you like rugby its not a bad idea to be able to go and watch a load of derby games together how ever one thing i can never understand is the way they build the season up to getting into the top eight when there is only 14 teams in it which is reducing to 12 so its not really much of an achievement in any other sport if you finished 6th 7th or 8th then its half way up the league and an average season. Having said all that if you like both sports then its a shame they are both on the same night oh well you can always record the rugby

I wouldn't have thought that many as there were only 10000 at the Hull game and 7000 at the Rovers game

We were having a conversation about this at my gaff tonight, so I decided to check the numbers that attend this Magic thing.

I was surprised, there's over 30,000 at each day.

I'm not a rugby hater, I don't really know any rugby league fans and I was never subject to the anti City ****e I got from white ****e fans at school, so I'm happy for our local egg chasers to do well.

Personally I find it sad that folk need to have something to hate to make themselves feel better about their own preferences. Still each to their own peculiar choices. <ok>

Good day out generally everyone mixes together good atmosphere. Unreserved tickets sold out which is the lower bowl at the etihad. £15 for 7 games and it should be.

It's true, fc sold out a couple of weeks ago, got another allocation and sold that out on Friday. I believe rivers sold out on Saturday - unreserved day tickets. Both have weekend tickets which are more expensive so are now pushing those.

Hull discount tickets heavily so I don't doubt that fans of other clubs buy from fc.

As a rugby fan I love the Magic weekend, chance to go somewhere different and watch as many games as I want with a few beers in the sun.

The reason the stadium always looks empty is because most fans go and watch the second half of the game before and then their game, they don't stay for the full day.
