Since Dunfermline in 1977 (I remember it well because I was at Devil's Dyke at the time) the winner of the (British) Pretty Polly Stakes hadn't produced the Oaks winner until Ouija Board pulled it off in 2004. Then Talent did it last year. Today's winner certainly has the pedigree for it. The time of the race was very slow but she did win easily and is sure to be suited by the extra 2f. All we need to know now is whether she will handle the track.

There is still time for something else to catch the eye.

Bracelet put in a shocker I see but on a positive the horse I went to see won it's point race a shade cosily after a farcial start where some got left behind. Lakeshore Lady is the horse in question and ran at Curraheen. Few interested parties afterwards too so fingers crossed for that one.

Whether or not she heads straight to Epsom, as both Talent and Ouija Board did, Gosden is undecided: "We might go to Epsom for a gallop or go for a trial," he said. "The next trials come a bit quick - the Musidora and Newbury are ten or 12 days away - and then Goodwood comes a little close. We'll see how she's going over the next few days."

Excellent. Given the pedigree I would be surprised if she didn't act on the track so probably best to get on before she confirms it. Well done to Joe, and stick, getting on at fancy prices

His granddaughter married my brother in law in Kafelonia (she is 50% Greek and the island is her birth home).

We all headed out there for a week and I generally sat next to him at family gathering's...the logic being that we had something in common since I worked in pharma and he was a retired chemist.

He is a great old raconteur and well distanced from any sort of political correctness.

His daughter was PA to Stavros Niarcos where she met his personal chef,a Greek, and married him, much to Montys chargrin. He has some interesting stories about the Greek shipping tycoon..all beautifully embellished.

I won't be able to go on Saturday unfortunately.

Neither did I Ron!..I do always take an interest in their results though from my encounter with him.

He said to me that the club would be promoted to L3 and then relegated,as a cyclical happening, since money would never be available for a Championship push..that was in 2007 and I suppose that hows it has transpired.

Glad the Club stayed up..they have some history now in the Football League and a great bunch of fans if Saturday is any barometer.
