Yes I know there's a transfer thread and no this is not just based on his performance yesterday. I've watched him for a while now as have a lot of people and he really is something special. If we are going to spend big on a midfielder this Summer then for me at least bidding for him is a must. A boyhood Everton fan I know but it wouldn't be the first time a blue has signed for us. The big question is how much and would he sign for us? If I was the manager he'd be my No. 1 priority.
Going to be a top player, stood out yesterday even apart from his goal. Great acquisition for any team
I personally would not touch him with a barge pole, hes a good player but he would cost at least £30mil and I think we could get much better value for our money. He also would probably take a season or two to get used to playing for a club with expectations to win things and not playing for Everton who haven't won **** since 1995.
I'm not winding up mate I really feel he is going to be World Class and that there will be big bids in the Summer for him and if he is going to be sold then we should at least be part of it. I'm not too bothered about yesterday, you lot played well but I would just like us to win our remaining games and see what happens, at the end of the day it's been a good season for us.
I'm not so sure on that he's a local lad and might not want to move away from the city and as I said it wouldn't be the first time an Everton fan has signed.
The fee is the only thing I would be concerned with, as you say is there better value? Well yes maybe but he is young and if we are going to look for quality players then imo it doesn't get much better.
The lad would be a great addition to our midfield, but it ain't happening, so no point getting worked up about it at all! If they want/need to sell, you can bet the likes of City, Utd and Chelsea would throw more cash at any "deal" than we would or could.
he has the attitude, skill and determination we need to see in games, just feel he would have a high value put on his head, and even if we was interested and he wanted to come, we would haggle for so long, city or chelsea would just come along and go give you £200k a week wages and you may get some game time. load of ****e about him not wanting to come here because of who he plays for, been done before, just like utd and liverpool players swapping sides. would it be a good way to spend what will probably be most of our budget?
I agree and when I say we should be in the bidding I really think we should but at the end of the day if City or Chelsea really want him we are not going to match them. Why not bid though and see where it goes?
never in a million years. If he wants to stay local then he has the choice of the biggest club in the land just up the road. He may well stay at Everton for a while. He will never ever join Liverpool though. First of all you cant afford him and the step up from Everton barely exists so whats would be the point. And what the **** expectations do you have? 1 league cup in 8 years Seriously?
Not yet I'm not. I know what you mean but I just think that if he is going to be sold we should be in with a bid and if it's no then fine but if a player of that quality is available then we'd be daft to not even try. Overall though I agree it would be unlikely that we'd have a bid accepted and that he'd agree to switch to us. You never know though.
indeed, selective years yet again in an argument, wouldn't dare go back to 05 though would you or mention 07 final, what about the fa cup win and loss? not as great as some other clubs maybe could achieve, but its a damn sight more than everton have managed, and as a player you would look at that you bitter cretin!
