I read in my in laws communist rag the mirror Frank De Boer has mentioned tottenham and Newcastle as sleeping giants he would like to manage.

World class coach, didn't think we'd stand a chance. Sign him up ASAP.

Difficult to call him a world class coach at this stage. Hasn't really achieved a great deal. Certainly has world class pedigree from his playing days. Promising start to his coaching career. Found CL quite tough (yet to get out of the groups) but had tricky groups and they don't have the same finance.

I'm sure we'd get to watch good football. Kind of coach an ambitious club would take a chance on. Would undoubtedly want to overhaul the squad.

    Spurs it is then!

I have never liked Pardew as a manager and would not be sad to see him go, but he is not the crux of the problem. He has no money to spend, every time we build a team around a player, we sell that player and despite the rhetoric never even buy a cheap replacement let-alone someone to fill the previous player's shoes. We are caught in a bind by Ashley's business principles. A year or so ago I remember an article on here comparing FFS to MA, and most of us came down on the side of MA on the principle that we would still have a financially viable club in a few years and no collapse like Portsmouth or Rangers etc. Now that it is becoming ever clearer that financial viability could lead us into a relegation dogfight next year, I wonder how many of us would still chose this kind of financial stability. Personally, it's a very difficult call. We have probably bought players of equal ability under both regimes, but for less under Ashley. The problem comes when we can't get a desired player for less we don't buy anyone. Under Shepherd, panic buys were commonplace and big money flops as well as the odd great player along the way. The question I propose now will see how much of a difference this year has made, with Ashley the ultimate reason for our current plight, is would you rather have FFS or MA?

I'm not privy to the financial coming or going of MA or FFS, but I believe FFS used the Club money for everything and didn't use any of his own and we would have had a total collapse and not had a team at all if he'd continued to be in charge. At least MA has used his own money and even if he hasn't been overly generous he's kept us afloat.

I know that FFS would have run us into the ground eventually, but Ashley seems to be doing the same, just not in the same way, we've ended up without a proper team in recent times, Ameobi is our top/only scorer in the last 7 games does this not scream relegation? I know the championship wasn't necessarily a bad thing last time, but we might not bounce back next time.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Alan Shearer said:

"There has to be a big improvement and I think he's well aware of that (Pardew). Newcastle fans don't expect them to be in the top three but they want to have belief.
They want to have hope that they can go out and score goals and defend properly.

"They want to have hope that when decent players become available that they can go out and buy them in the transfer market. And also when they do have good players they don't want them to be sold.

"It's been so frustrating for them, they're angry - and rightly so."
