I struggle to conceive of a situation involving an old white guy jovially saying the word '******' in the twenty-first century. And if you perceive my view as simplistic or blinkered, it's because racism of any sort a rather simple moral issue that needn't require delving into the grey areas, like rape or *****philia. And also it was a response to another post that was confused and full of irrelevant points, so it required concision. I don't really care about Clarkson or what his latest grumble with a world he no longer understands happens to be. What is annoying is that some choose to defend his actions, ostensibly either because they think we should all be walking about calling each other racial slurs, or because their vitriol for some perceived lefty/PC/liberal agenda compels them to.
Left and right refer to ecomomic policy? I stopped reading after that as it made no sense. And as for that clip of the comedian? Mockery isn't funny. Well, unless you throw in some wit which is distinctly missing from what I heard. It seems less about what people say and means and more about what others perceive ... Which is usually what fits their agenda and furthers their own importance.
Well it won't make sense within the confines of 'ecomomic' policy...ffs. You should have kept reading - both my post and as a general rule of thumb for life. To spell it out for you, the point is that left-right as traditionally conceived in this country is about class relations - fundamentally about property, and whether to protect ownership of it (right) or redistribute it (left). Racism isn't the domain of either - there's antisemitic lefties and your run of the mill BNP/NFers on the right. Hope that clears up any confusion.
Many years ago, around the time that the word ****** changed almost overnight from being just another word to being THE most offensive word on the planet, a very good friend of mine in his dotage, took his coat into the cleaners and when asked the colour he innocently called it ****** brown. Shock, horror....the assistant said "You can't call it that" to which he replied "Why not? It was ****** brown when I bought it and it hasn't changed colour!". The point of this being that the actual word is surely not offensive, only the context in which it is used.
Which part? I honestly, hand on heart and nothing to do with what Lee says as I said it prior to his act, said in the aftermath to that crash that I suspected he had that crash on purpose. Maybe he didnt want it to be quite so serious but the bloke was nothing prior to the crash and 99% of the country couldnt pick him out in a line-up. The amount of chat-shows he went on afterwards and the number of times he ****ing spoke about it on tv despite claiming he never would again was so calculated it bordered on the preposterous. I distinctly remember people at work looking at me when I said it as though it was the most awful thing ever but I still stand by it to this day. Anyone with any dignity wouldnt eek out a living talking about it on tv to sell ****ing books and line his pockets with sympathy money. FACT. The man is a disgrace.
On the contrary, you're a disgrace if you think Hammond crashed that thing at 300 mph as a publicity stunt. He's lucky to be alive.
Not really! - wouldnt disagree that there are racists in all parties, but 'run of the mill BNP/NF' - FFS!! Being a member of the BNP or NF defines people as racists surely?
You come out with some utter ****e, but this is a new low. I don't like Hammond, but this is shabby as ****.
Would you say Tony Benn was on the left? He didn't redistribute any of his property. He did buy his kids expensive properties when they were young though. Polly Toynbee is on the left but will be hangingnon to her properties including her overseas villa. More accurate to say those on the left want to redistribute the wealth and property of others.
Never a truer word said as far as my experience goes. I couldn't give two ****s about politics and as such have little understanding of the fine points. But I do know a few who are well into it all, a lad who's self confessed single life ambition is to be a fully fledged lefty is the tightest bastard you'll ever meet. Always banging on about how great labour are and how evil the Tories are etc. and constantly whinging about anyone who earns a bit of cash and doesn't give it to all and sundry. Try get a pint out of the bastard, you'll have better luck squeezing blood out of a stone. And that's about as far as my personal experience goes.
