I can't believe Mickey Rooney is in brackets!! Bit more of a contribution to the world than Peaches bloody Geldof!! Celebs dying is one thing, but my Facebook newsfeed was crammed with people saying "OMG can't believe she's dead! So sad, she'll be sorely missed." Outside of the Geldof family and a few weirdo stalkers, who the **** is actually gonna miss her? She wasn't actually doing anything of note while she was alive, so why is her dying an event all of a sudden? Especially now we discover that her death was her own fault! It made front page news on about 5 national papers and yet the passing of an actor who's career spanned over 8 decades went relatively unnoticed and as a big fan of the film industry, that really, really pissed me off. If Pete Docherty dies of an inevitable smack overdose, is everybody gonna hail him as a musical genius and throw themselves at his passing coffin, or are they gonna go 'Huh. That bloke from Babyshambles died today.'
One was 93 year old who died of old age and one was a 25 year old who'd already lost her celebrity mum to a drug overdose and was the daughter of a bloke who staged the biggest music event in history. It's hardly a surprise that it was big news in the UK, even it she hadn't really done anything of merit herself. Far more painful to lose your daughter than your granddad, that's why it resonates with people.
I understand that, but why has it taken her dying for people to recognise her as a valued member of society? She was a heroin addict who had it all and blew it. Yeah, she lost her mother and there's some complicated patriachal issues we won't go into, but surely a legendary film star dying is bigger news to the world? Even in America, the Peaches Geldof story was getting more column inches. I honestly believe that if Katie Price and Michael Caine were to die on the same day, Jordan's dead tits would get the better coverage.
Nope. The songs sound like they're being sung by one of those waifs who come up to you in the street and ask you for 20p. Oh good, another song about drinking white lightning in the park and fingering a girl on the top deck of a bus. Top song writing skills.
I know they're popular and to be fair, some of the riffs they do are really something, but they lyrics just rail against me. Same with Jamie T, he's another one that seems to sing like he's in a social club on a council estate.

Some sanity is needed on this thread. Micky Rooney. What a star!! Was it seven wives? I remember him saying the reason he kept working was to pay all the alimony. Didn't he appear in a record number of films. Child star/prodigy. Fantastic dancer. A real pro. Peaches Geldoff, Smack head. Let's hope the kids are too young to remember anything.
