If he was getting the job why not just confirm it? But didn't Trunds say that somebody else was getting the job? Hoddle?
I'd still prefer a more experienced man next season. The squad needs rebuilding and I don't think Monk has the experience etc to do this at this moment in time. Bring in a new manager with monk as an assistant and give him a couple of more years to prepare himself ready to take over.

Edit: just seen Masters post, fully agree <ok>

I think you sum up the feeling of about 75% of the Swans support there mate .
People will support a Donkey if put in charge of the team, if Monk is made manager he gets the support off every single Jack plain and simple but lets not revise the past.

    Apologies for the abuse.

F**k it up against West Brom and Palace?!

Well Palace was played just after Napoli and with several members of the team carrying a sickness bug, against a team who then went on to beat, Chelsea and Everton away along with a few other victories.

2nd half against West Brom wasn't great, again though West Brom have been decent of late.

As I highlighted in my original post I am pro Monk for the reasons I partly outlined..work ethic, knowing the club etc. If Laudrup had stayed we would have had a summer of turmoil in my opinion and more likely to be relegated next season than if Monk does indeed get the job.

Even if Monk doesn't get it I think the board will get it right. I think lessons will have been learned now, particularly in that for all Laudrup's successes at the club (which were many) ultimately the dynamics of his relationship with HJ and the board seemed to go the same way as Sousa.

If Monk doesn't get it therefore, I think we'll see a British manager, someone whom the board can work closely with.

When you played palace and brom, they were dire and in a poor form period. They have only recently hit form. The same could be said for Newcastle who at the beginning of the season looked decent but now are the worse form team.

They cant confirm it until he has the qualifications can they, but behind closed doors he has been offered the job but that will always be subject to him passing the premiership course which i have no doubt he will...

Neither West Brom nor Palace were dire, both were a work in progress with new managers, particularly Palace who were showing signs of a superb recovery which is now complete.

Garry Monk came in and from the start hit the nail on the head, that particularly at home we weren't dictating the game to teams. He highlighted that the away side should be reacting to how we were playing and not the other way around etc.

The games that I saw under Laudrup this season, were in my opinion the other way around. Teams coming to the Liberty, with the Swans more intent on stopping them rather than the other way around. The result..go a goal down and that was game over.

The Swans under Michael Laudrup, at times were superb. The first half against West Brom at home last season was the best that I have ever seen the Swans playing in 40 years of following them.

Against Malmo, home, again we were superb. I know we had injuries, however, the shape, style etc in our league form, tailed off dramatically. No matter how much you achieve in football, either as a player or manager, you are only as good as your last 10 or so games. After the League cup final and then over a half of this season our league form under Laudrup was poor and the stats back that up.

Is Monk the right man for the job? I think so, but I can also understand the doubts about him. All I know is that I'd rather someone at the helm who will give his absolute all, something that Laudrup at the end wasn't doing!

Or, as some on this forum would suggest, is it the number of Managers that he has allegedly managed to persuade Huw to get rid of? <whistle>

    Swansealona <doh>

If it wasn't Monk who saved us swansealona, please advise who? Was it Laudrup; nope, Pozuello; nope, Canas; nope, Michu; defenately nope, Vasquez; I'll get his coat ?

funny how de Guzman's and Hernandez's performances have vastly improved in recent months, I think since February actually, hmm.

Anyhoo, I'm not having a go at you swansealona, or terrorwit or Libertarian or anyone, although it may seem I am. I'm simply disagreeing with the view that Monk is crap and Laudrup sh4t gold when he was hear.

I absolutely appreciate what Monk has done since February and I have shouted this as loud as I can. Conversely, I don't agree that Laudrup is a paragon of virtue and all would have been well if he stayed. My personal opinion is that we would have been in deeper sh1t if he stayed, but that's my view, he didn't stay so we'll never know.

Personally I can't wait for this season to end so we can get back to decent banter and sheath dry sabres instead of slicing each other up over this very emotive subject, (I'm as guilty as everyone else)

Life goes on after Laudrup and who knows who will permanently replace him. I don't think it will be Monk but I thank him from the bottom of my Jack heart for his cameo this season.

Perhaps you could reproduce the posts where I referred to Monk as being "crap",and Laudrup as being able to "**** gold".

Monk's done a decent job since taking over from Laudrup. I wouldn't be averse to him getting the job provided he was given stronger coaching support than Clotet or Curtis.

Monk was just steering Laudrups team around stumpy , I actually think I could have done as good . I too think Monk should get a chance but make no mistake, there is difference between running someone elses built team than making your own .
