Ah but Keds has been injured since Jan and was playing for about a month before hand with an injury.

Are we forgetting that Kedwells goals come largely from penalties, therefore could have also been netted by others, i'd like to see the stats for goals from open play.

What is more telling is that you assume we were winning more penalties with Keds in the side, therefore defences were under pressure more and hence conceding penalties which would be add more weight to Kedwell being the most improtant striker

I think that's an incredibly far fetched statement to make, Kedwell hasn't actually won one of the penalties he converted this season.

Listen i get it, people love Kedwell because he supports the Gills, and admittedly he had a very good start to the season. However when he ws the only striker playing, we weren't winning games, only when Bayo and Cody came in did we start to win games. There can be absolutely no argument with the fact that we have won more games with Kedwell out of the starting line-up, so how can he be better for the team than Bayo and the apparent total failure that is our top scorer Cody Mac.

No I do agree there, but I didn't say Kedwell won all the penalties but with him in the side we won more that without him, so I was implying with him in the team the opponents were under more pressure. To be honest I don't think any of our srikers have been standout his season but the biggest disappointment has been Cody due to the level of expectation on him.

Haha, MISLEADING fact time you mean, BSG!

The fact that Keds takes our penalties does, of course, completely skew the goals-to-games statistic.

It's probably fair to say that Cody has not quite lived up to expectations, but
    A) Our expectations were sky-high because of 2010-11
    B) He has had very little service, from a poor midfield.

I would still put him in the player of the season top 3.

Up-front has been our strongest position out of the three out-field positions in the team, in Danny Kedwell, Cody McDonald and Adebayo Akinfenwa we have three strikers who have scored double digit goals this season and these three have scored 34 goals between the three of them, IF Gillingham stay up then it is the fire-power in the side that have largely contributed to survival.

As for Player Of The Season I cannot see anyone else winning this award other then Stuart Nelson, who has put in consistent performances for Gillingham week in, week out and when there have been games we have won or drawn you can pick out moments in these game where Stuart Nelson has made a save to keep The Gills in the game or made a save to protect all three points.

Runners Up for me will go to Cody McDonald and 3rd spot will probably go to Adebayo Akinfenwa, both players have contributed for The Gills this season with the goals they have both scored, plus they do link up really well when they play alongside each other.

I think Jake Hessenthaler will get Young Player Of The Season Award as this is Jake's break-through season with The Gills, plus that forty yarder against Coventry City was a sensational goal, although Dack's goal against Rotherham was quality as well.

I have voted for my player of the season and young player of the season. I voted for Stuart Nelson as my player of the season and I also voted for Jake Hessenthaler for young player of the season. For me the easier decision was player of the season but young player of the season was a bit harder because I could have given it to Bradley Dack or Michael Harriman.
I would imagine it would end up like this,
    Player of the Season:
    1. Stuart Nelson
    2. Cody McDonald
    3. Adebayo Akinfenwa
So I have agreed with fan_of_mulligan
I think that the young player of the season will end up as:
    1. Jake Hessenthaler
    2. Bradley Dack
    3. Michael Harriman

Just recently on The Supporters Coach we just voted for GISC Away Player Of The Season, I went for Cody McDonald as most of Cody's goals for The Gills this season have been away from home, but I know of at least five people who voted for Stuart Nelson so I can see Stuart Nelson winning this award as well.

No problems with either…….Nelson has been outstanding with a relatively poor defence and midfield in front of him and Cody has been outstanding with a relatively poor midfield and defence behind him.

Lets hope that a few of the missing pieces of the jigsaw can be found during the close season. And that does not mean running around after ageing has been 'names' that might have been good 10 seasons ago. Talented and hungry younger players who want a chance to prove themselves. Forward and upwards…..not backwards please.
