Is the Premier League ruining our Country?

After seeing England’s under 21’s crash out of the European Championships at the weekend, I was waiting for an article such as this.

Content is pretty accurate I’d say in relation to the heart of English players these days and can’t really argue with the fact that the money involved in England now is making club football preference.

A point that will continue to rumble on until our national team finds success……….so this point will rumble on for an awfully long time!

Not enough tits on the telly

 

They can take our freedom goddammit but never our boobs!!!

 

The problem with England football team boils down to that English players are way over priced compared to players which are bought from the European Mainland. There's no way that the CH Man Utd bought from Blackburn was worth over £18 million, but because UTD wanted him and Blackburn were the selling club and that was the price Utd were willing to pay to get hold of that player.

Agreed, but that is because good English players are hard to come across. Teams really need to look into developing kids better

 

I think this is a problem throughout British sport in general. Look at Cricket, Tennis, Football, Athletics and most 'big' sports. Whilst we've had a peppering of success over the years, the general rule is that we fail miserably. Our national team in Football has almost become the Eddie 'the eagle' Edwards of sport - everyone loves them and is rooting for them, yet knows they will fall at the first hurdle.

Years of underinvestment in Sport, Tory governments selling off playing fields to property developers, dilapidated equipment coupled with a booze culture has taken it's toll on our national ability to compete with the rest of the world. Whilst countries like China, Russia, The US and France invest in their youth and have been for decades, we are only just beginning to realise that our sportsmen and women need support and financial backing in order to succeed.

A classic example of this lack of support is the many Athletes who, whilst possessing the needed talent and ability, have struggled to secure financial support to pursue their ambitions. It's changing slowly, there are now funding bodies in place to support up and coming sportsmen and women, but it will take a decade or more for us to catch up with the rest of the world - and until then, we are going to lag behind.
