The off field problems that the Allam's brought to the club were divisive and unnecessary, and could very easily have spilled over on to the pitch. If the CTWD campaign had not been so organised and professional there would have been match day demonstrations, with much more hostility than was briefly seen in the Palace game. Steve Bruce should never, ever have been placed in the position of having to defend his chairman for things said, or to defend the owners "business" decisions. The very fact that despite all of the distractions over the course of the whole season, (brought on entirely by the Allams) we have still had success, speaks volumes of the professionalism of Steve Bruce.
This **** has clearly just registered to cause aggro and wind people up. Mods - is it a multi-poster? There must be summat you can do to **** him off.
When asked Steve Bruce could have avoided giving an answer. He is very good with the media and could have easily flat batted it. He decided to speak out and defend his chairman. The man who gave him a chance to rebuild his reputation. We are having our best season ever. That is down to the players, the manager and the chairman. Our success suggests the name change issue has had no effect with what's happened on the pitch. Unless you are suggesting we should have achieved more?
Absolutely not, I think we have (happily) over achieved. The point I'm trying to make is that the name change fiasco could quite easily have caused problems that affected on field performances which is why Steve Bruce was constantly asking for fan unity. The Allam's were obviously aware of the divisions and the unnecessary distractions to Steve Bruce, yet put their own egos above team success. The success that has been so far achieved is therefore despite the Allam's in that regard. The money made available to Steve Bruce has very obviously helped, and I'm not belittling that very obvious contribution, but they as businessmen will see that purely as investment.
Agreed it could have. Thankfully it didn't. Let's enjoy the end of the season and hope the success we are having helps change his mind. We live in hope, I think we all would like it to go away no matter what side of the argument you are on.
No, I've watched the hole debate quite closely. I don't really want to start an argument about it but go on. What's untrue about that statement in bold?
Allam wants to finish Hull City because he thinks it will spite the Council. Wrong. It has rightly infuriated the fans. Until we kill this abortion of a name change idea, we must be on our guard. Let's hope we can get the message across at Wembley on 19 mins.
I do hope the Allams are looking at how they can get more investment in the club without changing the name because if we are in Europe next year he is going to have to dig a little deeper into his pocket. Wonder if there is a chance he will just let the name change thing quietly fade away now we have got the feel good factor back. Will be very interesting what will happen if we win the cup re the bus tour. One wrong move from him could sour the whole occasion.
