Just seen the news on the BBC that Andros Townsend will miss the World Cup after sustaining ligament damage against Stoke. Given that Walcott is already out, and there are few other options that provide consistent service down that side, does England now have a 'problem right wing' position? I don't really know who I would take to fill that berth. I guess Aaron Lennon is the obvious one, but his delivery is inconsistent at best. Adam Johnson has been out of the side for a long time, and I can't imagine going with just James Milner as our option there. Any other ideas for this summer's excuse-fest?
Could do a lot worse than Jordan Henderson. Probably not his ideal position but has bags of energy and works well with Glen Johnson.
Actually thinking about it, does this open the door for Raheem Sterling? He'd be the in-form choice...
Well that's milner and sterling going then. Milner is just a better SWP. A defensive winger because he's got virtually no attacking skill at all. Hopefully we get more money for sterlings int. apps.
I'd assumed he was a shoe-in in any case, injuries or otherwise. I'd like to see him more central though, although it does start to get a bit congested if you want to play Rooney just off Sturridge (or god forbid Wellbeck).
Don't forget alex oxlaide chamberlain at arsenal, lalanna of southampton think they could do a job. It also depends on formation he uses as in a 4231 the front four could interchange ie Rooney, Wellbeck, Sturridge, Sterling as all can play across the line behind striker or up front. This reminds me off the french team that won without an out and put striker. The team would be more fluid but would require two dms that know the role well.
