RIP, great actor and a proper bloke. Roger Rabbit was my favourite film as a kid, remember going to see it at the ABC.
I really enjoyed his "On the Move" series on TV - a great way to promote adult literacy. Excellent actor and apparently a very nice bloke.
R.I.P. - a good geezer
Bob Hoskins's daughter today paid an emotional tribute to him following his death last night, by revealing the 11 life lessons he taught her. Rosa Hoskins, 30, said she loved her ‘darling’ 71-year-old actor father ‘to the ends of the earth and he loved me back just the same’. The actress then listed the ‘advice that he tailor made just for me’, saying that he spoke ‘so often to encourage, comfort and reassure’. They were: ‘laugh’; ‘be yourself’; ‘be flamboyant’; ‘don't worry about other people's opinions’; ‘get angry’; ‘whatever you do, always give it a good go; ‘be generous and kind because you can't take it with you’; ‘appreciate beauty’; ‘take pictures and make memories’; ‘don't take yourself too seriously'; 'never, ever, ever, ever give up’; and ‘love with all your heart’. Good advice for us all. RIP Mr Shand. "The Mafia? I've **** 'em."
Great actor and genuine all round good bloke - he grew up in Finsbury Park, where I spent a lot of my London years. Remember him campaigning to save Jones Brothers, a real old fashioned local department store on the Holloway Rd, because it was 'where me old mum used to shop'
I enjoyed Hook when i was younger. He was good as Smee. He was good as Khrushchev in Enemy At The Gates as well.
