Time that Mellor made his mind up what he want's to do I reckon, or maybe time that PNE made their mind up whether to keep him or let him go. Down to three strikers now of which Mellor is one, so we do need a couple of strikers without any doubt. We might need three if Mellor and C Brown move on.
Good evening Plumbs Personally, I wish he'd just go now. I don't think his heart is in it at PNE and he'll just follow the money. If he goes now, then at least PB knows what he needs, and every day that goes by without knowing whether Mellor is staying is a day wasted. As you rightly say, he needs to make up his mind and stop messing the two clubs about.
I note that Leeds are losing their keeper so if true then Lonners would be a natural replacement. Wouldn't have thought that it was the move that Lonners had in mind, but his value has dropped since Turners arrival at Deepdale. Suspect he would be hoping for a Prem club to come in and Wolves were supposed to be showing interest but finding the right club is becoming more difficult for many players now.
Yet another enigma yet to make his mind up.. PB has stated that he has no idea whether Carter will be staying with PNE or not. Carter out of contract in a few days time is yet another player who failed to live up to his £1 million transfer fee and the high earnings he has been on. Made a bright start to his PNE career then faded into obscurity and eventually was loaned out. Came back from his loan spell and PB gave him a chance to stake a claim in the team's relegation battle, and did enough to suggest that PB would like to keep him at Deepdale. PB is now waiting to meet with Carters agent to find out what Carter wants to do....stay or go. Carter would have to accept a large reduction in his wages in order for PNE to re sign him but will he ????. Many fans have lost patience with Carter who has had several opportunities to show what he can do and failed, they would say that Carter is an idle sot and not prepared to give 100% for the club. He does have the ability and talent etc, but none of that is any use unless he is prepared to give that 100%. PB did get Carter to improve during his last 6 months and would seem to want him to stay with the club, but many fans are unforgiving and remember just how much in wages Carter has earned and how little PNE have had in return. Life must be a bit difficult for PB at the moment due to not knowing what the out of contract players are going to do, that is the ones he would like to keep of course. There are still question marks over the like of Lonners/SSL/Treacey and others, so how can PB bring players in if he is unsure who out of the current squad will be going or staying. It's getting close to pre season training now and PNE are far from having the squad PB wants for the coming season. Patience is going to have to be a virtue of both supporters and PB I am afraid...
Indeed Plumbs. PB stated at the end of last season that he wanted to hit the ground running in L1. That's going to be difficult if we are only adding to the squad at the end of the summer break. I've seen a link for a list of freebies on the Sunderland board, published by the FA...I'll post it on here shortly....PB is going to have to look at the dregs from that list if we are only going into the market late!! I've every faith in him though
Lonners now reported to be likked with every club in the Universe, Birmingham being the latest however WBA are possibly on the point of selling Scott Carson to some hapless saps in Turkey and they were reported to be after Lonners at new Year, personally think that may be the club but that is my take on it.
Eveing maclad I thought that was what was supposed to be happening ages ago but it seems that the merry go round has come full circle!! It seems Lonners, SSL and others will be playing anywhere but Deepdale next season. Good luck to most of them but I do hope we get value for them
Latest of the rumours is Treacy to Newcastle, transfer windows openson 1/7/2011 and then the action will really begin and put an end to this summer madness
Mellor will be leading the attack next season, Treacy happy to stay and the Saint has bought a house in the Preston locale, the Foxes offered £650k we wanted £1.5million
Well if they can all play to their best I reckon it's a pretty strong trio to have, although anything can happen between now and thye start of the season! It just leaves PB with less funds than he might have had. But at least those players know the club.
Evening maclad.. Yes I have seen that in the LEP tonight. Must be worth £1.5m for a current International player. Does look like he will go by the look of things, although I'm not sure that he realy wants to do. But PNE are looking to bring money in and get rid of the high earners so my suggestion would be to hold out for more £'s. Been quiet on here of late, but with little to report or discuss perfectly understandable IMHO. I dont like the close season when things are as quiet as they are, maybe July 1 will change things but I'm not holding my breath... Keep them coming maclad..
