Good Morning All, Alex Mowatt will not require surgery after being stretchered off during last Saturdays win at Birmingham. The 19-year-old midfielder was given the all-clear following examinations of his knee on Monday and he is expected to be ready to begin training with the rest of Unitedâs squad when they report back for pre-season around the start of July. Mowatt jarred his knee in injury-time. McDermott said after full-time that he hoped the youngsterâs injury would not prove to be serious but Mowatt underwent scans 48 hours later to establish whether he would require an operation ahead of the summer. Leeds face Derby Saturday lunchtime at Elland Road for their final game of the season with nothing to play for. Derby, whatever happens will finish third. Should they going to rest most of their players for the play offs? Leeds United will spend part of pre-season in Sardinia if new owner Massimo Cellino follows through with preliminary plans for his first summer in charge at Elland Road. Cellino wants Unitedâs squad to complete a period of training in Assemini, the location of a sports complex used by his Italian club Cagliari.
Good Morning from a dull Bardsey I think that Derby will rest their best players on Saturday why risk injuries n I remember we did that to them many years ago when Revie played his reserve team at Derby I happened to go to the game which we lost and Leeds were subsequently fined I bet Derby aren,t
Morning all ... I have just posted an article about Mowatt and our young players, and whether we are going about things in the right way when bringing them through to the first team. Thankfully Mowatt's injury is not as bad as first feared ... I fully expect Derby to rest the majority of their play-offs starting eleven so as not to risk any injuries, there is too much money riding on their next fixtures to be worried about winning at Leeds ... every Derby player on Saturday will be looking after themselves as they eye up a potential Wembley appearance so a determined Leeds approach should see us claim the win ... Cellino and Italy will become a constant I guess, and pre season training plus Italian friendlies will be the norm, as will be us being linked to every Italian player on the planet ... it's going to be interesting this summer on the squad front, that's for sure ... hey 60, here's to lots of sunshine for you mate
Morning 60, If it were my team, I'd take em abroad for a weeks break. Fine, whats 10k these days. Promotion will mean 100m I believe??
Morning Billy, yep, think we will be linked to every player in Europe. Just hope we have some some good scouts in place....
Morning all we should play our second string against derby too.... Except for the fact we don't have one because they've been starting every game since Christmas
Morning boys and girls. End of a less than inspiring season. But everything's now in place for a real push next season. We may not go up. But as long as we're in the top 6 for the whole season, that would represent progress towards near guaranteed promotion in 15/16. I think BMD will remain as Manager for at last the start of next season, whcih I now think has to be a good idea; continuity and all that. But he's definitely on borrowed time if things start of sowly or badly. No need to worry too much about who we'll be getting, as agents pushing their next big thing will let the press know "we're in for 'im". Time will tell. Will you be taking 4 weeks off Elland from your daily contribution to the Leeds effort, or can we look forward to a daily digest of who we're in for now?
Off topic I know but this looks fun
Morning all I have heard that there's a clause in BMcD's contract that can be good if Cellino wants to offload him at the end of the season. Cellino has already undermined the manager by arranging the Sardinian trip, because it was only last week the manager was telling the YEP that pre-season was planned and arranged with all the usual clubs etc. Cellino has put another spoke into the managers plans. If Cellino gives the manager another chance then you have to believe that he trusts him with some cash, because even Cellino can't start bringing in any Tom, Dick or Harry ...... can he?
I know it's Cellino's money we're now relying on, but I hope he doesn't start sticking his ore into BMD's or anyone else's transfer policy. Won't help to stabilise the club or take us forward.
as for Mowatt They say he doesn't require surgery let him go away come back at pre-season and then decide to give him it like they did with Byram and Becchio the year before.
