Since the days of Houllier, Gerrard has taken all of our corners even though he is rubbish at them and he is probably one of our better players at heading the ball?? He'd even be better lurking outside the box for corners. Match tonight was awful! Got a lucky goal and were very lucky that Fulham didn't score 2 or 3 goals. Serious problems with our formation and where to play Gerrard as I don't think he can play a central midfield role, needs to be behind Torres or out wide. A win is a win though EDIT: Just after posting this I googled "Steven Gerrard Corners" and I'm not alone!
I'm with you. He woudl be far better in the box or even outside the box waiting for the rebound, lay-off or poor clearance. Give the corners to Mierles or Maxi or someone else.
Agreed, Aurelio if he's playing should take them. Gerrard realy needs to step up him game in my opinion. I would probably play him behind Torres, with lucas and Meireles.
gerrard is suffering from Roy of the Rovers syndrome or Billy's boots syndrome where he feels he has to do everything to be important. freekicks,corners,penalties , meireles is much better corner kick taker . shelvey put in a few nice ones when hes allowed take them too
Yup I agree. He is actualy becoming counter productive. I love Gerrard as much as anythone else, but this season has been a real eye opener. We have got to become more rutheless. I think if he isnt doing it he shouldnt just float straight back in the team. That only inflates his ego and makes the other bow down to him. Its a vicious circle! The team is suffering as a result.
He should have been dropped at the airport after the game for that. Hopefully somebody in Spain is still willing to take him back.
