Al this said, I still think it may be irrelevant. I still see us drawing at Palace, and City drawing at Goodison. Mind you I felt we'd draw against the Chavs, so there you go. City with Yaya back look like they've gone through their blip though, so I really can't see them dropping any more than two maximum points from their three game. Maybe Steve Peters has picked up the team, I don't know, but they looked devastated after the Chavski game, and if they were playing Palace on Saturday I wouldn't give you tuppence for us winning that game, especially when Pulis (understandably) has them firing mortors into our box from all angles to cause havoc.

That defeat may have cost us more than three points.

Arsenal need 2 points from WBA and Norwich to ensure 4th, it's gone mate.

We need 3 points to make 5th guaranteed, and that assumes that Spurs and United take maximum points from their remaining fixtures

Our final fixture is away at Hull, the week before the Cup Final, so I can't see them wanting a battle...

Both United and Spurs play before we KO on Saturday, if both fail to win then 5th is ours anyway - which might make for an interesting atmosphere lol.

We are only top four hopeful this season. Coming this far without winning it is painful. Who knows if other results are going to go our way as it's no longer in our hands.<ok>

Norwich will probably need to win to stand any chance of staying up, but Arsenal will have beaten WBA by than anyway so it'll be irrelevant imo.

I'd be lying if I said Sunday didn't make me smile mate, Gerrard's slip was too far fetched to have been scripted by a Blue ffs!

However, I won over £700 on the Chelsea / City double on Sunday, so every cloud and all that <laugh>

I said yesterday, it's not over yet, plenty of football still to be played so we'll see how it pans out - starting with slippers and pipes at Goodison on Satruday night <laugh> <ok>

beers are on you then you batard <laugh>

dont gamble but you done well there considering the return on who the 2 teams are.

as i dont gamble i am assuming you got good odds as the chelsea game was the one where odds would have been against you?

used to know a manc on the other forum who said he used to bet against utd, so to him he wins either way, guess its how you see it i suppose <laugh> if i gambled not sure i would bet against my own team just to make money, but can see the logic as its a win win.

Chelsea were 4/1 and City 4/9.

I tend not to bet on or against Liverpool or Everton tbh, as heart can rule head and therefore logic goes out the window and you can make some awful calls.

However, I just had a feeling about Sunday as your 11 game winning streak had to come to an end, and Maureen has a knack in games like that.

i half expected it myself mate, i knew our wining streak was going to end, BUT if we had scored in the first 25 mins or so their game plan would have backed fired, also if we had managed to have gone 13-14 games unbeaten then been hard pushed to find anyone who said we didn't deserve it, even you <laugh>

shame anti football won, but maybe bit of niavity from brendan as well as we only needed a point.

stop betting against us then you batard <laugh>

I think Maureen schooled him tbh mate, but I agree Rodgers was a tad naïve as a point would have sufficed. Maybe a painful and expensive lesson for him there if it does turn out to be the defining moment.

I'd already said I thought you'd done it, I thought that spawny deflected shot from Sterling the previous week had sealed it for you.

City could yet **** it up, but God spare us Everton gifting you it ffs <laugh>

i think mourinho is over rated personally.

not disputing what he has won, but most of it has been handed to him on a plate, he could have ended up similar to what moyes done if he didn't have the silly money he has had to spend over the years and the teams he has gone to.

i quite liked cheslea under Ancelotti, and the songs they used to sing about playing like brazil, irony of having brazilians now and they play ****e ad so negative, but to be fair they can turn it on when they want or need to, but must piss you off as a fan knowing you have the capacity to destroy teams and you play that way.

they used to entertain, guess the cheslea fans don't care as its what or if he wins that matters, even if its done in a negative fashion.

    Can't have that mate.

He wins by whatever means he feels will deliver a victory, he puts entertainment nowhere on his agenda, as his task is to win. Love him or loathe him, I can't see how people can't acknowledge his obvious talent.

I find some of his football boring to watch at times, but it's often tactically extremely astute and not as simple as some would have you believe.

You don't get what he does on a consistent basis without having a very keen eye for detail, and then spending hours drilling what he wants into his players on the training ground and team meetings.

yeah i can appreciate that tobes to be fair, but then i guess i am coming from the angle where rafa used to get ****e in the press whatever he did which was pathetic, ie zonal marking etc and he never had silly moeny to spend, and at one point sell to buy, dodgy owners etc, just dont feel if Mourinho was ever put in that situation he would have much success.

just wondering how much longer he will get away with it at chelsea, or is the trophies more important to abramovic, as i got the impression he wanted his managers to entertain the fans at one point, or has that changed.

pains me to say but i see Pep and Mourinho as very good business men ie they know how to maximize what cards they are dealt and when to get out, i dont see either of them doing what Fergie or shanks and paisley done at a club, and built them up or taken it to the next level.

I really can't see Everton getting anything from City. Martinez will be planning on how he can get out of there in the summer and the loan players will be doing everything they can to make sure they are not at Everton next season playing Europa league. I can see Everton laying down and losing by about 4.

Mourinho knows (and was unfortunately for him was quoted on it) that he's not got a top notch striker this season. So his play has been heavily reliant on the likes of Hazard this season. He'll put that right this summer and bring in a Costa or Falcao. They'll be better next season and he'll use the 'bus' far less often, as he'll have more attacking options.

The likes of Fergie etc won't be seen again in the game imo, as the pressure for immediate results will never see a manager plying his trade for 2 and a half decades in the top flight. Managers just carry the can for every failure these days, the turnover at the likes of Fulham this season just shows how ridiculous it's become and I'll piss myself when them and Cardiff are confirmed as down.
