The good news is were going to get a lot of high earners off the books. Gardner, Larsson, Bardsley are all on big wages and are out of contract. Fletcher, Jozy and Graham will all be sold in the summer and they are also on decent wages (we need Jozy to have a good world cup so we can re-coup some money. Although I hope we keep him Giacc will be off too. Borini and Ki will be going back as they will both be too expensive for us to sign. So what do we need? To sign Alonso (He is better than Rose IMO) Extend Connors contact (He will be our main striker next season) We need 2 x CB's and a RB. (JOS and Brown have been great but next season will be a season too far IMO) 2 midfielders: We must replace Colback and Ki with even better players (Difficult I know) 2 x attacking wingers to replace Giacc and Borini 1 x striker as back up / competition for Wickham. So that's 8 first 11 players we need for next season. We need to promote some of the development squad too and give them games, people like Karlson, Ba and Watmore. Its going to be a big re-build but not before time, we need to focus on youth and pace as we have plenty of experienced players in the squad.
After what was done to him he did by not taking the offer he had last transfer window and is proving it again after an event which occurred late March.
For me, he's declined 2 contract offers, said the first was due to playing LB, this one seems like he simply isn'tinterested, credit the lad he's continued to perform, but the cynical eye suggests that's smart to get that Bosman contract up.
Sorry Gus, I meant to say an Offer from ANOTHER club! Re, Bosman....you could well be right but possibly he's awaiting confirmation that a couple of players are being moved<smile>
Was there an offer? Even if there was it would have been the clubs decision. Seems to me there wasn't an offer from elsewhere, at all.
Didn't make it to SAFC due to an injury to a third party but the club found out about it a couple of months later
yeah, why would we want an owner that guarantees us big name signings, success and worldwide profile....
Why would Red Bull do that? If they took control they'd want to change our name to Red Bull Sunderland & use us for advertising.
They would incorporate some design into the kit and name the stadium, the FA would not allow a name change, note Hull. Every team they have in a league has gone into incredible stadiums, made marquee signings, and won titles. This applies to all sports, not just football, they are dream owners, a club ran well as a business, and supremely competitive.
Why is Short getting so much grief. He brought in Dicanio and we loved it as fans.....until everybody including Ellis found out he was as mad as a box of frogs! He then acted quickly and brought in Gus, that led us to Wembley for the first time in a generation and hopefully safety. I think he has been great, he has tried new managers and new player recruitment tactics that's brave in my book, sign of somebody who wants to improve constantly. I'm happy with the owner and manager thank you and look forward to see what happens next season.
I don't think it;s grief Bex, more a wonder if he really has the desire to take us further. He's been a wonderful owner, but we need to progress.
Nearly all of the sports team they own have the name Red Bull in it, the exception? A lowly German team, who they bought when in the fifth division, low risk and low cost, that would not be the case here In terms of football teams they own: A third tier team in Germany An Austrian team A Brazilian team A Ghanaian team and an American team The money required to be successful in those leagues is not close to the money required to be successful in the premier league. If they were willing to make constant loss as we move up the table I'd happily welcome them, however, I imagine similarly to fat Mike they'd be OK if there brand was shown everywhere in the most popular league in the world
It depends if you mean desire or money really. Will financial fair play allow millions to be piled into the club these days, I can't make much sense of the new rules, looks to actually protect the big teams a bit.
There would be branding, of course, and whilst the money in those leagues is indeed less, the revenue in England, with a massive global owner like Red Bull, would be immense. Sponsorship and global interest would go through the roof, as well as financial backing. Now, they may have bought in lesser leagues, but they are actively looking and have spoken to Everton, supposedly. Let's be blunt, Red Bull came from nowhere to one of the worlds most powerful companies, due to incredible advertising and market awareness, now imagine that kind of expertise behind a club in the worlds most marketable league. They financially bankroll a multi-title winning F1 team, one of the most financially and sportingly competitive arenas in the world. On next, we have the clubs. RB Liepzig - Only founded in 2009, promoted FOUR times in 5 seasons including unbeaten all season last year. Currently second in 3 Liga, needing 3 points to hit Die Bundesliga, they will be a Bundesliga side in 2 years, from nowhere. In Germany, not some neck end footballing nation, we'll agree. NY Red Bulls - Stunning, self financed purpose built stadium, a who's who of admittedly ageing but high profile players, currently a point of top of MLS RB Brazil - Stadium under construction, founded in 2007, promoted twice in 3 years, with policy to only play Brazilian players. Add the F1 titles, massive events, multi-billion profits, grass roots support of many sports, and you have a potentially wonderful club owner, sportingly competitive, ethical (to a degree..).
