You won't be back on the bus till 1930 hrs earliest, out of the coach park 2000. If it goes to extra time and pens, add another hour on. The Saturday night will turn out to be a damp squib for many- much of it spent in traffic or on tube.
I did worry about this myself and I think is one of the things that's swinging us towards going down and back on the day. Stay around the ground for a bit of merriment after the game with the other supporters who choose to stick about awhile then plod off home. I'm not driving so not staying doesn't bother me. It seems a safer option when faced with the possibility of standing about in a tens of thousands long queue waiting for a train, finding somewhere to eat before hitting the boozers and it being so late I'd be nackered and most will have fooked off back to their hotels. It's only about a 2 hour drive home as well so that's another point in favour. In reference to an earlier post of mine, I'm not really staying at the Dorchester, although I did look there and the prices in comparison to the prices of all the other ****ty hotels in that area really weren't that bad. I think I may have opted for it if I did decide to stay.
I can see the 'ke-ra-zee! Cup night out in London' shrinking to about 90 mins in a toilet pub down there serving ****ty warm 'Courage' or 'Watney's' costing £13.95 a pint and served by antipodeans.
Nearly. Swap toilet pub for pub toilet, doing what you do best. Saying that you might find a nice little cottage to ply your trade if you're lucky. I've even made myself chuckle with that one.
I travel to London a fair bit for work, a top tip I can give you is to look at Premier Apartments, I usually stay at Limehouse Docks, and it's between £120-£260 The benefit is you get 2 or 3 double bedrooms and a full size living room with settee, they are beautifully looked after, if there's 3-6 of you going it will massively reduce your costs per head, there's a DLR stop 15 metres away so it's convenient enough travel wise as well.
I'm staying at The Brent Hotel from Thursday till Monday, says it's close to Wembley and easy to get to central London. I don't know the area myself so if anyone has stayed there or knows the area please let me know Thanks
I don't know the hotel, but it's not all that near to the stadium, it's a fair old walk, nearly 2.5 miles.
We've booked the Union Jack club. Should get to see a Waterloo sunset and, hopefully, be in paradise come Saturday night.
Thanks for all the help and advice everyone. In the end I booked the ibis Hotel in Borehamwood right near Stanmore. Easy to get to Wembley and Central London, and cost £80 for the night, including breakfast for us both with free parking too so not bad.
Good grief, is the UJC still there. Used to stay there in the 60's, when it was pretty crap, but very cheap, and handy for Soho and the West End.
