I'm a big believer that a great team starts with a great GK...Boruc is a superb shot stopper and is pretty reliable in the air, but he is prone to mental lapses and his distribution can be wayward. I've been saying for a while that I think the club should really try to get in a top, top quality Keeper and CB as these are the positions where mistakes have cost us too many points this season (as well as not finishing chances)....The midfield is stacked with many options (Morgan, Davis, Vic and Corky) and has youthful back up (JWP, Reed)...We definately lack a bit of pace up front (without Jay), so a speedy Forward/Winger is desired as well as a top finisher to help to convert more chances into goals. There is no definitive starting XI, it is all dependant on availability, fitness, form, tactics and who impresses in pre-season, but I imagine it to be something like this... New GK Clyne/Chambers, Lovren, New CB, Shaw Spider/Wanyama/Cork Lallana, Lambert, Davis/ New W/ Rodriguez (when fit) New CF Subs from Boruc, Fonte, Targett, Reed, JWP, Ramirez, Gallagher, Yoshida, Lambert/Davis, Cork/Wanyama/Morgan Clyne/Chambers
In two seasons time he'll likely need a chair for the moments the play is in our half, let's be honest.
We have to remember MP was leaving him out for Dani so if we buy I think he'll be an impact sub more often than not.
My current guess is that we're going to be slightly more frugal in our investment and primarily look to fill out the squad, so the only changes I see is a new striker in for Lambert, then a GK, CB and Wide player bought on the cheap. I think the biggest improvement will be on our bench which I would really not be too disappointed with as it is sorely needed, it could look like New GK, Cly/Cha, New CB, Sch/Cor/Wan, Gaston, New JRod clone, Lambert and that's with very good academy players like JWP (who is a pickle for me), Gallagher, Reed, Targett and Sims waiting in the wings. Compare that with our bench against Everton; Gazza, Chambers, Hooiveld, Targett, Reed, JWP, Guly and it is world's apart in terms of impact.
Not specifically talking about Butland, but previous targets don't always remain targets as we move on and needs change.
Whereas Lambert over Messi and Fonte over Luiz and Cahill are entirely sane... *EDIT* Screw you, Dan.
According to the media: Newbie Newbie Newbie Newbie Newbie Newbie Newbie Newbie Newbie Newbie Newbie Subs: The U11's
Any new players we add have to win the right to gain a place in the first XI and I don't think we should simply dispel Lambert (same number of assists as David Silva and Gerrard) and Fonte (plenty of clean sheets), however if they are tired/injured/out of form it will be great to have some depth. I wonder if players like Redmond, Berahino and Butland might be good as they are young and would probably be content being squad players?
Well it was really because on fifa 14 I am not sure if to sign him or schmeichel I think I will sign both of them
