Wickham and SKP this season, daft as it sounds, would have been a god send, to the ****e we have had.

After we signed him pre season saw him in a friendly at Macclesfield. Scored I think and was class that day and during his whole career with the lads. Gutted when he left. Absolute legend.

Always remember we were playing Charlton very early in his first season and two blokes talking in front of me in the East Stand one says to the other "Bloody typical Charlton have Clive Mendonca and we have Kevin f**ing Phillips"

I often wonder if that bloke has a laugh about what he said!

    So that was the reason?

Always thought it was something else.

He left cos we went down, he asked to leave on numerous occasions.. In hindsight I wish hed got the big move to spurs he deserved and we'd have got the £15m instead of the £3m or so we ended up getting

KP's name written in our history. Tremendous player. Am I right?....the only Prem player to get the Golden Boot for his 30 goals (year?)?
Comm1: me's went back to UK late 1999. Got me 10 games' ticket, and early Dec '99 we beat Chelsea at the SOL - 4-1, was it? SuperKev scored
2 crackers!! My wife followed soon after, and.....how it happened, don't know.....but mail'd SAFC for 2 tkts for the vs N'cle game (early Feb 2000)
("my Thai wife here, she's gotta see this game"). Got the 2 txts! Up at the south stand, and N'cle fans waving keys. "What's that?", she asked. "I don't know, dear". 2-2. Remember.......did SKP score? - think so.
Yep.....a legend - in Sunderland's time, and beyond. Great memories, Kev!!!

In our lifetime mate, probably will never see a better striker don the red and white stripes.

Some of the older one's may beg to differ.

Feeling a bit naive right now! What were the rumours like?

Yeah, remember selling him for peanuts in the end.

I'm 57 and I would say KP has been the best striker in my lifetime. I don't think any oldies will argue.
