Bath 430 sees a field of 3year olds go to battle and many of them may need the experience 2 have done battle over the distance before bold runner and enquiring , bold won by a nose but tomorrow enquiring is 2lbs better of plus the3lbs claimer sees 5lbs advantage . So at 9/2 on the all weather specialist I think tomorrow may be turf account opening day bit of a risk but enquiring has the ability and just needs to transfer it .hopefully the light rain will aid the course but all in all they have a great chance

    19.05 Windsor- Top Diktat- 11/4

Ryan comes to Windsor for one ride- He is reunited with Top Diktat (his fathers horse) who also lto rode him to complete his hat-trick altho he has gone up 6lbs. This is one of his less competitive races so aslong as he is in the same form he will take a lot of beating from this ordinary lot

Windsor on a Monday night; one of summer's enduring pleasures. 3 Maiden's to start the card, and what's this I see? Richard Hannon's Storm Rider in the 6.05 1m Maiden for 3yolds available at 8/1 following a disappointing debut at Newbury last September. That's an e/w price about a Hannon Maiden at Windsor, ridden by Hughes. Gotta be done.

In the 18.35 Windsor I'll be keeping an eye on Rocket Ship and Black Shadow. Windsor is not the luckiest of courses for me and with the ground conditions, anything could happen with so many unexposed. Black Shadow is by New Approach out of an Unfuwain mare so there should be no problem with the trip or going. Effectively 3rd on 2yo début but lost 3 places close home. 7/1 not a tempting price though. Rocket Ship is by Arc winner Sinndar out of a Sadler's Wells mare. Looks an interesting staying pedigree but the problem with this one is that the mare has an unknown pedigree on the dam's side; hence little confidence.

In your race Wooly, I would be tempted to dutch Top Diktat and Handheld at 5/2 (now) and 19/5 respectively = 2.95/1 (much better value)

NB. I'm not sure this oddschecker dutching calculator works. With increased odds on both horses the dutching odds have come out less

There are times when losing can be a blast. I would love to have been a member of the Cheshire League Third Division team Wirral who were dismissed for just 3. The number 11 scored the only run off the bat, a single, to remain unbeaten. Highest score went to someone called extras, who managed 2. :)

<laugh> I went to a football match on Saturday (Saints vs Everton) where both Saints goals where scored by someone called OG. He may end up finishing theseason as our top scorer.

    Windsor 6.35 Aldborough 6/1

One for me today, caught the eye in good Newbury maiden as a 3yo and wasnt seen again till Kempton at the start of the month where he was well backed and ran better than the book shows in what is turning out to be a decent race, the 3rd Abseil won easily next time and the 2nd Heisman could frank the form at Kempton today, the 6th also won a maiden next time although race probably wasnt up to much. He is a brother to the decent ex Prendergast/Lady Oreilly filly Kissable who placed in the Moyglare as a 2yo and ran a good 2nd to Sapphire over 12f in soft ground listed race. The dam Kitty Oshea was unbeaten in two starts for Obrien, both on soft ground, including a 6L win in a listed race, herself a daughter of Park Hill winner Eva Luna, so the step up in trip on soft ground today should be right up his street and his action backs this up. Rydan looks the obvious eyecatcher last time and is shorter than he should be as a result, the way Fortune rode him set it up for an eye catching finish, never put him in the race and it remains to be seen if they are really trying today, betting close to the race will tell the story and if the money is solid then I expect him to be the main danger but this race was won by a similar 4yo type last season and I think we will see a much improved Aldborough this evening.

Heisman runs again today, but is drawn in the car park and looks to be very short in the market. He is a classy horse, who should improve for his debut, and if his mind is on racing today (last time he had more on show than they had hoped) he should run really well. Infact it could be a double for Olly today as they have one in what looks the worst race of the day over at Southwell.

The Listed Woodlands Stakes looks an interesting race at Naas today. The AOB trained Guerre and the top weight Maarek seems to be the ones mostly likely to take it, but a couple come into this with nice, solid racing behind them. Their past records are hardly great, but they may have returned much improved this time in. Win bets on An Saighdiur and Srucahan might prove the way to go.

I quite fancy Maarek today at 3/1. He won it last year and this year he's had a pipe opener. I wouldn't put the house on it but for a little bit I don't see why it won't be in the mix.

So return to £100 at the origial odds should have been £202.41 (1.024/1)

Even better value now at 11/4 and 4/1 = 1.142/1

I thought it was too good to be true. Should have checked before posting such a ridiculous statement

Have just read the satirical masterpiece, A Modest Proposal, by Jonathan Swift. What a delight. In the short story, he offers up the idea that well suckled, yearling children should be bought by well heeled gentlemen of society, from hard up mothers, and used for fine dining. A great read. <laugh>

Excellent performance from Heisman, good horses in behind, 8 out of the 12 runners had a timeform + rating!

    Thanks for the heads-up <ok>

Didn't realise Maarek had changed trainers again or did McCutcheon take over from Lalor ? Was surprised he left Nagles yard in the first place.

No worries, happy to hear you got on. He is a lovely horse, hope he goes on to be as good as they think he is. Perhaps the beginning of a big week for the yard with one in the Guineas this weekend.
