According to The Mail Long was largely anonymous until he popped up to score the winner!

Do you notice how - despite the fact that both clubs were very close in the League - it's all "Fulham threw it away"-type guff?

(Almost like they were the only team there....)

The dichotomy of distance and what is presumed to be refined in one, and as to the rough and ready in the other. Fashion versus substance. North versus South, And so on. Not surprised, though always a little disappointed in the predictability of the press.

Not only that, but apparently we drew 2-1! (Where did our second goal go?)

I liked this paragraph from the Independent.

    4. Struggling sides take Hull City lightly at their peril

The theory was that if Fulham were to stay up, Felix Magath’s side would have to beat Hull City at Craven Cottage and, frankly, it didn’t seem such a big ask. Steve Bruce’s side were unlikely to overstretch themselves in the run-up to their forthcoming FA Cup final appearance. This ignored the fact that, for a struggling team, coming across Hull is equivalent to skipping down a dark alley wearing a Rolex while holding a wad of £50 notes. It is likely to cost you. In their eight games against the bottom four, including Saturday’s 2-2 draw, Hull have now taken 20 points; they will have contributed significantly to three relegations.

That's wrong, we've taken 17 points off the bottom four, with a goal tally of 16 scored 4 conceded.

3 against Norwich, 4 against Fulham, 4 against Cardiff and 6 against Sunderland. I make that 17. Or did we get 3 more for the FA Cup QF or was one game a genuine 6-pointer?

Well I agree with your figure, not sure how they got to 20, as I think even on Saturday evening the bottom 4 were still the same teams as it was after the Sunday games.

The BBC website is no better (does no one proof read any more?)

Regarding La Liga this season, the table for the top 3 says

    1. Atletico Madrid P:35 Pts:88 GD:53
    2. Barcelona P:35 Pts:84 GD:67
    3. Real Madrid P:34 Pts:82 GD:82

Are Real Madrid expecting a points deduction? While I hope that Atletico hold on I can't help feeling that Barcelona may spoil the party.

In La Liga its head-to-head that counts. Since Atletico's head-to-head against Real is better they go above them, even if Real have a better GD.
