Why can't Chelsea play beautiful football?

We are boring, ruin football and are a general disgrace. I mean, why don't we play our matches and set up our team to suit the opposition - that's just not fair! We don't deserve to win games, ever.

Just had a quick look at our games against the other top 6 teams, and our results are quite impressive:

    W:8 L:1 D:3
    For:22 Against:5

By any standards, that's pretty bloody impressive (at home, we won all 6 of those games). I love the "phact" that football fans (especially the media-loved red ones from 'pool) don't think it's right that we are able to choose our own tactics and don't do what they want us to do in a game.

We clearly set-up well for these matches and are able to well and truly do the business. I would be happy for that return any/every season. The question is, why don't we get a good enough return against the teams much lower down the league? Are we too cautious against them? That's something we really must nail for next season. Lets face it, 1, maybe 2 improved results against those in the bottom 6, and we would have won the league by now. Sure, every team will be unhappy about their form during the season, but I don't care about them - just Chelsea.

Looking forward to the 2nd leg of the Champions League. See if we can attract any more haters!

Yep Crocano, we're an absolute disgrace. How dare we set up to win away against the favourites?? Why are we so lucky against Barca and Bayern, hugely better teams than us?? How can we appear in public after creaming City at their gaff??
One day we'll have a proper team and play proper football, instead of winning so many things with our brand of Anti football. FIFA should ban us and appoint Scandanavian refs to give dodgy decisions against us. Hate to think how we will go against Atletico, more disgraceful stuff no doubt. Any wonder so many haters are on here.
Good thing Atletico are not a bottom team, I would be seriously worried. Not over confident, but hoping for a good win. More of the same application as per Liverpool should see us with a win.

    Blue - twas nice indeed.

It does annoy me that the world feels sorry for Gerrard's slip, "gifting" a goal to Ba!!

A few points about that incident, Gerrard mis-controlled. He only slipped after that mistake, while trying to recover from his cock-up. Add to that, Ba had a fair bit to do, not quite a gimmie at that stage.

We don't play their way, like tippie-tappie-tee
But get lots of goals, don't concede any"

Now that all the blubbing has died down a few things need pointing out: (1) Liverpool knew in advance what our set-up was likely to be so the emphasis was on them to break us down (2) They will face a lot more double decker buses next season in the CL as well as parking a few of their own on the return trips; and lastly (3) Point out in the rules where it says we should follow the script, roll over and be gracious gallant losers......as Paul Newman once said: "A good loser is precisely that.......a loser".

Highly cautious tactics won you the game. They have also won you the champions league and uefa cup. Cant doubt their effectiveness. With the players you have and money spent I would think you were capable of more though. At the same time you were away to the top team in the league and did what was necessary. With the way you play id rather play anyone but you. That is a compliment and an insult at the same time.

We can feel your pain young man but you wouldn't be incautious playing away with a slightly makeshift team because that would be stupid. Jose knows the way you play and just cancelled those threats out, you may have had more of the play but possession doesn't win points. :)

I wonder if any Liverpool fans think that the european cup wins with backpasses all night was acceptable football ?

Jose got it spot on yesterday. Dont like the guy and dont like his tactics. But he gets results at all levels. If anyone should have done things differently yesterday its us.

There are a lot of scousers and gooners with short memories that's for sure. They may play nice stuff now but they were boring the tits off everyone in the 80 and early 90's respectively whilst winning things.

I find it utterly incomprehensible why we didnt try to beat Liverpool at their own game by going toe to toe. I mean with AC Madrid on wednesday, key injuries, and a well known goal scoring problem, its absolutely diabolical the way Jose put his responsibilities to Chelsea Football Club, over and above the needs of Rodgers, LFC, and the anti Chelsea media.

I found the mid 70s side more boring, Hughes hoofing it to Toshack for knockdowns to Keegan. When they outmuscled a wonderful PSG side in 77, football was a poorer place

Have to say it's refreshing to see Liverpool and Chelsea supporters being both gracious and aware of the good qualities of both teams and managers. No rubbing it in, no slagging off. Well done to all.

As a bear who played mostly at left back and centre back for me it is all about keeping a clean sheet, making the strikers spit at you and try and break your legs and laughing as you peel your skin off the inside of your shin pad in the changing room afterward.

I never visit their board or anyone else's, I was just talking about those on here, unusual not to degenerate into a slanging match within 2 posters. Think both sides on here have been fair and reasonable, which is refreshing.

I think it's because only the more rational Liverpool fans have visited here since the loss. Bit different on the Liverpool board. RAWK, well meltdown would be putting it mildly I imagine.
