I'd definitely give JT another year and i can't really imagine us getting 60m for Rami and Luiz but if we did that'd set us up perfectly for the window! Defended Rami earlier in the season but he's got considerably worse as it's gone on and is becoming a bit of a liability. I like Luiz but anything over what we paid then i'd sell him, always got a mistake in him i feel. I'd honestly let Lampard go, games seem to pass him by now and it looks like age is getting the better of him but i still think Cole has another year to offer. If Azpi getting a new deal at 70k what is he on now? A fee of around 7m and wage of what, 50k? That's some seriously good transfer business from us.
Very good point re Azpi, he was a very good piece of business and one of our success stories. Who was it that spotted him ?? More please. Proves you don't always have to go broke to be successful.
The reason why Lamps gets 125k a week and Azpi 70k a week is obvious. Lamps sells more shirts etc, and is worth more commercially than Azpi. Part of the reason we got fleeced for Torres is even though he was past his best when we signed him after an embarrassing World Cup he was the third biggest player commercially on the planet behind messi And Ronaldo in shirt sales
I think Barca even made that kind of offer a while back, but Chelsea didn't take it. Maybe Chelsea fans can confirm this? I actually don't mind him as a player but for 40mil I'd snap their hands off. For me he's a 15mil player, no more, no less.
I believe Barca offered 40m. I would have taken the money for him. Definitely. I like him as a holding midielder but as a CB he is a disaster. Too many errors. He's nearer 20-25 m I reckon.
I think he's worth about what we paid, nothing more though. Rumours of 40m a while back but not sure that Barca actually bid that. I imagine if they did he'd have gone there and then.
am i the only one who thinks luiz should stay? He's improved season on season, and has great desire. he's great for the squad too. i honestly think he can smooth the rough edges and become a WC cb/cm. Ramieres needs a rest mentally and physically for me, this is his first extended patch of poor form, it'd be overkill to push him out thinking about his qualities
Could be, thought he was excellent against Liverpool, always looked to pass forward for a change and a whole lot better for it. His goal record could do with some improvement though, but he stood tall yesterday.
Agree: Ramires was vg against Koke last week despite a poor season. Luiz needs 20 or so games before we can judge him in Midfield. Apart from City away and one half v PSG, he has been a major disappointment there so far, despite all the 'experts' on Motd saying he would be a brilliant CM. He would be a brilliant CD or CM, if he could concentrate and was not so reckless, injuring Cech for example, and giving away two awful goals v PSG away He also lacks motivation in lesser games: palace away
And I make the 3rd, I would hate to see him go. I am a big fan of Luiz, he shows passion, energy and a big will to win. Yes sometimes when back he makes rash decisions that have me tearing my hair out, but at other times he pulls off a blinder, but that's the difficulty for a defender all mistakes are spotted and jumped on. I much prefer it when he is midfield though as he seems more comfortable there. So I say keep him, as he's a player that can play in both those positions when needed and still has a lot more to offer as he matures. I think he's a bit like marmite you either love his way of play or you hate it, as supporters we seem divided on him.
Don't think you're the only one, but world class? Come off it. He came to us aged 23 with 'rough edges' and showed signs of becoming a brilliant defender. 3 years on he has a lot more experience both in Europe and the Premier League and is still exactly the same. Zouma looks like he could become amazing and Kalas gave a very good performance yesterday so those two with Terry and Cahill make four excellent CBs with youth and experience. As for Ramires, his only 'quality' is that he can run all day long. He can't take it round people, he can't pass and as I said previously he's a vicious ****er who lashes out with a tendency to dive. Couldn't believe what I was seeing when he punched Larsson.
