One thing which united all the fans on Saturday- no-one thought Sordell would score with the penalty.

    I never said that.

    Withdraw this remark.

Absolutely. He must have been the only one who thought he would.

I still think he was Charlton's best player

I would'nt say it's the fans fault, but singling out individual players and constantly abusing them IS the fault of those who do it. In a workplace environment, it's called mobbing, and you tend to get punished if you do it. At football, it's supposedly okay because you've paid to watch, even if you annoy those around you and end up punishing your own team. I used to go along with the arguement that if you'd paid, you had the right to complain, but what sometimes goes on goes way beyond any normal definition of 'rights', and besides, who would want to endure that sort of thing when working, especially from so-called Charlton fans.
This is a forum, and if people want to come on here and say certain players are guff, they can, and rightly so, but the dogs abuse that gets heaped on some players at the Valley goes way beyond that, and needs to cease.

Charlton players get off very lightly compared to those at many other clubs. I am not sure that is a healthy thing, as it breeds arrogance and complacency. Hamer was heckled by the CE a couple of games back for constantly flapping, he turned and gestured angrily at the temerity of the people paying his wages who then dared to criticise him.

I would tell Harriott to put a proper pair of football boots on (black ones) with longer studs, and then take the time to look up and count to three before releasing the ball. That is what marks Poyet out as a class player, he has time on the ball and a decent touch. Harriott has neither. Calling himself Cally Messi on Twitter is also inviting ridicule.

I thought Sordell, after all of the moaning from the stands after and even before his run up, showed great character and more importantly - confidence- to go on and be our best player and get his goal.

I think he'll be more than fired up against Watford and bag another goal. Well, I hope he does.

It doesn't matter if its only 1%, it entitles them to a say. Or is it supposed to only be one way...fans are only allowed to cheer or wave rattles enthusiastically?

"Moaning from the stands". That old chestnut.

Possibly had something to do with the fact that old Lard Arse has nicked a living off us this season? His gravy train at Bolton is about to come to an end, and he will be aware that clubs are looking at him as a free transfer this summer (God Help Them). Could that be his motivation? His penalty was pathetic, and could still contribute to costing us our place in the Championship. His overall level of performance this season have been the footballing equivalent of a diorrhea stain. Sorry, but a gifted hat trick courtesy of Cement Boots Miguel Llera won't act as Persil where Sordell is concerned. The bloke is a Wrong 'Un.

But do you think we should sign him up on a permanent basis, Vol? I'm getting conflicting vibes from your post.

Not sure what you mean. I stated a fact that people moaned before and after his penalty. Not really an old chesnut, is it...?

It was the word "moaning". Implied you were critical.

I thought the groaning before the penalty was strange, and afterwards it's a natural reaction to a penalty miss. Was more happy to see him not let his head drop as we've seen far too often from him this season.

We couldn't afford his wages BUT to be a bit contentious and I've slated him on here this season BUT if he played like he did on Saturday I'd love to sign him if we could !!!

Its called "playing for a contract" Mike. Chances are the penny has dropped with Sordell that his 3 years on the gravy train at Bolton on 20k a week are about to come to an end. Time to briefly forget about being a rap star, a gangsta, an entrepreneur, the boyfriend of a supermodel, and start getting some weight off that fat backside by running around a bit. Leeds were watching him on Saturday. Players like Sordell make me puke. They steal a living all season, and then decide to be bothered only when their luxury lifestyle is on the line. Be interesting to see what level club this con man ends up at next season, and on what wages.

I thought that, especially when Dougie said that Sordell is in his plans next year but isn't promised a 1st team spot

A quick look on the net confirms he does have one more year left. Though I'm sure Bolton will take a big hit on his price to get his wages off the books. Dougie might want him, but reckon the suits upstairs will want some sort of return on the £3million they paid.
