Just seen Jon-jo's wonder goal from half way line. So why are press and tv not raving about it? Is it because it's not been scored by Rooney? In my opinion shelveys is a much better goal. If you've seen it what do you think?
Personally, I've said on here before, and am happy to say it again.. we shouldn't have sold him. I agree he needed to be in a team where he's playing regular first team football, but that is the purpose of LOANS. I would still rather have him than Allen. I still don't see what Allen brings to the side whatsoever.
I don't miss the times he'd give the ball away or get booked and sent off, and most of all I don't miss all the times I had to listen to "Shelvey... side net" Glad he's doing well at another club though
No I'm glad he's gone. Not a top 4 player. Think he has talent but just not good enough for me. So better than rooneys or not?
No, he was a poorer version of what we already had, to keep him would have meant downgrading. For every strike like that he switches off, leaves the huge gap behind him. Perfect example the Chelsea match. He was playing DM, drove into Chelsea half and just turned and watched as Chelsea countered in the space he left and a draw becomes a loss. Chelsea didn't look like scoring that day until he went gung ho in the 80th minute. We've removed the players who turn wins into draws and draws into losses and he was one. Very good strike today though. He's excellent at those!
I dont disagree he wouldn't get into our first 11 when our main midfield 3 is Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho. My point however is that he is a better option than Allen, which no-one has countered on yet. He's stronger & more physical and has a better eye for the fantastic. He has failings, yes, but he is only 22. These kind of things he can learn. Still think we should have kept him, or at least only sent out on loan. Reckon he will be an England regular in the future & prove a lot of people wrong.
No, Allen is better. Allen can help control a game. Shelvey can't control ****. Neither are very creative and Shelvey's occasional goal isn't worth the number of times he must give away possession to get one.
Would have got more money for him now if we had loaned him out rather than sold him. Did always like him though even if never quite convinced he could become a top player.
A purer more difficult strike than Rooney's, though not as far out. I'd still say it was marginally better though. Rooney's was a cracker too though
1 wonder goal, 1 assist (or two?) and he had a hand in all their goals. Great talent this young lad - always was. He left to play 1st team football and I'm glad he's succeeding. I was sorry to see him go and I'd have loved to have based our team's future midfield around him and Henderson. Was his goal better than Rooney's? Mmm, tough. Both great goals. I'd say my first impression was that Shelvey's goal was better. Simply because the keeper for Rooney's goal was all over the place and, had he ran in the correct direction (he'd lost his bearings), he probably could have saved it. Shelvey's goal had a better trajectory and the conditions were much worse so his technique had to be perfect. As I said, both great goals, but, for me, Shelvey's was just slightly better. Hope Voldemorte continues to improve for the Swans!
He's also in the heart of a really struggling side and still has little pace or drive. He's gone for first team ball but I reckon we are better off as well. F sake Morgans was best of all
All goals of this type have a large elemnt of luck about them. If somebody could convince me that Shelvey meant to put that amount of bend and dip on that shot i would say it is the best i have seen, as it is i would say it is in the same bracket as Rooney`s and a couple of others, great to watch and hard to choose which is the better.
It's what makes them great, yes any of these players in a match could try ten times and succeed once but they succeed enough times in their careers that they "tried" to put that bend, that serve on the ball. Why is Ronaldo or Beckham so good at the free kicks? Gerrard at the 50 yard pass? Suarez or Shekvey or Rooney at this type of shot? Because they have balls to take it out of training and into a match. Love it, no matter who does it. Matt Letissier?
