Now that Norwich just lost to ManU.

My maths is crap though so feel free to shoot me down.

Happy days with no pressure left on us now and we can just enjoy the last two games and not worry about the result. I can see the players packing their beach bags as we speak getting ready for their well earned break but poor old monk still has a great deal of work to do before he can have his break

We have to worry about the result, as if he loses both games, we will get you using it against him next season, or the season after when it suits

But in all seriousness, its good that we have made the points needed.

 

No it dont really matter now we are home and dry and monk has better things to worry about doing than two games that mean sod all. Who said it will go to the wire we are safe with two games left. job done as far as im concerned...

 

So why do you still use ML's games after the cup, as we were in the same boat, **** all to play for.

 

Yep. BBC says "all but" - but they're not taking the fixture list into account. Norwich and Fulham can only get six more points, as they have two games more to play. That would but them on 37 and 36 points respectively. As we are on 39 that's two below us.

Cardiff need to win all three games to catch us and will still have a worse goal difference but, in doing so, they'll beat Sunderland who will only then be able to reach 38. If Sunderland win then cardiff can only reach 36 points. If the draw then cardiff can only end up on 37. Which ever way one of those two teams will finish below us, so we can't end up in the relegation spots. Even with stupid swings in goal difference.

On a side note, looks to me like it's 3 of 4 teams. Poor as villa are, I don't realistically see even them being caught by the others. What do you think?

Does this mean that like last season, we'll not bother turning up for the matches we have left because we are safe ?

 

It's possible, we can't rule it out. But I honestly hope that if players are hoping for bigger clubs to come knocking then they will want to impress.
